Slightly ...more or less than with 1.8l pistons in a beta1?

Hmmm good question..

Ill compare the two in a couple of weeks..

I would bet my money the 1.8L pistons will raise it more.. thats if your using the 2.0L rods, crank, and block...

We are comparing 2.0 Beta1 to 2.0 Beta2

NOT 2.0 to 1.8 (which we already know, same piston, different rod length)

A good friend of mine, who impressed me he knew, told me this.

Beta 2 piston uses a full skirt. Beta 1 piston uses a half skirt.

Can anyone confirm this?

Wrong, 1.8l pistons are different than 2.0l beta1. Compression increases with 2.0l rods and 1.8l pistons. I am still comparing beta1 and beta2 pistons...but I compare it also with 1.8l, to put things in perspective wink1.gif

mmmmm.

I heard the other way around.

I heard 1.8 and 2.0 have the same piston and the rods is longer onaa 1.8.

Looks like we will have to wait for someone to provide pictures of both to confirm it.

Hey man, if you got all the pistons there. Please snap some pictures.

Wrong.. the 1.8L has shorter rods... shorter block..

1.8L, 2.0L beta I, 2.0L beta II pistons are all different...
Very similar.. but not identical... like i said before...

You should run a search on Ha.com... this topic was covered before.

You should ask your friend to take another look at the 1.8 and the 2.0 pistons.. not that impressive when hes wrong..

Mmm..

shorter block, but shorter stroke smile.gif but thats another post.

You guys keep comparing 1.8 and 2.0L piston. Lets please stay on topic.

We are trying to find the difference between 2.0 beta1 and 2.0 beta2.

If tigerlilly makes two different aftermarket piston for the two. I am hoping its for a good reason.

Actually...maybe no one should reply until someone pulls out some Rods and Pistons with pictures and measures them.

Thats the only way we will all get an answer we can agree on.

I dont appreciate the post being moved. Since it was a KSPEC question.

Maybe you guys should re-read the first post though.

Yea... shorter block, shorter rods,... and yea shorter stroke.. and?

Anyways...

I wanted this post moved BECAUSE of the first question... "whats the difference between beta I and beta II pistons?"

This question is relevant to the forum and should be answered here by other tuners, and because this question will be asked again in the future.

Anyways.. as far as the 1.8L piston size.. the reason i continued the topic is because i did not want forum members to be misinformed thinking the 1.8L and 2.0L are the same..

1.8L pistons are domed pistons (anyone who has seen one, would agree). The beta I has almost flat pistons.
So if you were to use the beta I pistons on the 1.8 you would drop the compression ratio (im guessing about .5:1) . If you were to place the domed pistons on the 2.0L you would up the compression close to 11:1)

As far as the BETA I beta II piston differences.. the beta II will give you a slightly higher compression (nothing like the 1.8L).. its not as flat as the BETA I pistons, but they are VERY similar, almost identical...

Im willing to bet that the beta I and beta II pistons kspec are selling have the same part number... it is for wesico..

Everything about the pistons is identical except for a slight change in the dome of the piston, a very minor change.

If you want pics.. youll have to wait about 2-3 weeks (if i remember).. the beta II are still in the hybrid block. The beta I's are at the machine shop and the 1.8L's are in the trunk of the Si.
