is anyone out there making real power?
Nope, but it appears that I'm going to be fairly close to the lead for that "honor" of ripping apart a $1200 diff and voiding the warranty.
I talked with my contact at Quaiffe for several weeks before we came to this conclusion. We actually had some help with the guys from KAAZ in this...

Sorry for the late response im running the setup from Alpine developments there are a few bugs that need to be worked out with the system mainly with the programme in the unichip but hopefully they will all be sorted in October after the retune. The intercooler is front mounted and as for the manifold its a bllody heavy as hell cast of that alpine make themselves but it came with the kit and untill i have more cash it will have to do.At the mo the ps is abot 8 but hopefull it will be put up a little when i get it tuned not sure what to go upto as all my internals are still stock.
The Haltech unit entirely replaces the stock computer, sensors and associated wiring. When you are finished, you can program in whatever the hell you want for fuel delivery, ignition timing, injection timing, injection mode (batched, sequential, multipoint, semisequential, staged), ignition method (direct fire, waste spark, distributor, toggle ignitor), rev limit and a gazillion other things.
It is also capable of controlling thermal fans (radiator fan, AC condensor fan, intercooler fan), programmable nitrous control, multiple boost maps for electronic boost control, idle speed control, closed loop (O2 sensor-based) fuel control for passing emissions and saving gas, secondary staging rev limit control, fuel / ignition / boost trim input, external shift lite and tachometer output and another gazillion things.
I've only listed the features that are most pertinent to our cars; the Haltech has enough features to make you sick of reading.
The brain, software, unterminated wiring harness and basic sensors (intake temp, coolant temp, TPS, 3-bar MAP) go for around $1200USD give or take.
Once you have the parts, you can either pay someone else for the install (guess about $1000 give or take) or do it yourself (plan on about a week of having the car absolutely gutted to the floorboards and firewall)
This isn't a tool for someone who wants weenie horsepower. If all you want is some mediocre boost, stay with the bolt-on parts. If you are wanting to make the best of a $10,000 buildup project, this is the part you want to use.

Apologize for the second post, but as an aside, my website should FINALLY be working just a bit later today.
If you are interested in the Haltech installation, you should be able to view it shortly on my website: http://www.hyundaiproject.com
I apologize to all who have been waiting for my website to become available; I have finally flipped off my past service provider and switched over to DixieSys for my website needs. I've got 400mb of storage and 7.5gb of bandwidth to burn per month, and these guys have a MUCH better track record versus the losers I had.
Joel has agreed to help me put together a technical forum, which (as you can see a little later wink ) doesn't exist yet. Hopefully with some PHP integration, you guys can keep up with my project and the issues I'm currently tackling interactively from that site.

Any output limits on the Haltec unit Red?
