is anyone out there making real power?

hey red, your tank, how much does it way full?...you can shaved alot of time simply by doing some weight redustion. every 50lbs lost is equivilent to approx. 110ths a sec on a q-mile...just a little FYI.....have fun

If you are indeed serious about this venture I suggest you talk with RED or ONPOL on the phone so they can explain to you in GREAT DETAIL what it's going to take to make that kinda power. It's not going to be an easy or inexpensive task.

Yes, we have one member I know of over 275... Details have been kept under wraps untill the project is more finished.
Bad news is that the stock differential died ON THE DYNO at 377 WHP...and that was NOT TUNED. Once tuned, and with a beefier differential, this setup should top 400 (hopefully) at around 25 to 28 PSI.
That's bad news for Red and myself, as we are looking to exceed that figure. Looks like we will be FORCED to go with the Quaife LSD to replace the stock open Diff....

There is the KAAZ differential... no wait for development, should be able to just order it. But it doesn't last long under the 600 hp machines... enough for maybe a season.
There are a handful of street Tiburons here making 300-400 wheel hp. And of course a handful of race Tiburons making 600+ wheel hp.

I'll be running an unequal length manifold.
Intercooler I'm looking at is 760x380x75, front mounted.
I'm using the Haltec EK6
1.8L length forged rods (78mm if I remember right)
.060 overbore (downsized from earlier plan)
stock shaped pistion tops, forged, 0.060 overbore
1.8L crank
6 row oil cooler with 180 F oil thermostat (2'x1'x1")
160 F coolant thermostat
The KAAZ LSD is a clutched unit. It requires gear oil changes every 6000 miles (every other oil change) and if street driven, rebuilds every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. It runs about $800.
The Quaife LSD runs between $1000 and $1200. They do not make a LSD for our car, but adapt a Mitsu LSD to our tranny buy flipping the pinion gears. This voids the Quaife lifetime warranty, even if Quaife does the work. The unit should still last longer that just about any other part on the car save maybe your cigarette lighter... tongue.gif
