replace those plug wire... i'm betting thats it. mine went at 49k

again, Why would it run while its at the exact warm temp but when its cold it sputters on the low end, Im no mechanic but if the wires were grounding out wouldn't that effect it all the time? I could be way wrong. Its not rpm based it more throttle based. Its wierd and frustrating.

No it idles just fine, its just when I press lightly on the gas pedal, Load or no load it doesn't matter. Also some new news Hyundai is going to fix my exhaust manifold for free as it is a recall issue, YAY, bye bye exhaust leak. Who knows that may help or fix the prob.

In warm up mode, the fuel injection system adds more fuel to both compensate for the lower cylinder tempetures AND to light off the cats by letting them have a bit of unburnt fuel. If you have an air leak or not enough spark, you are more or less experiencing a "flooded" condition when there is too much fuel and not enough air to ignite.

Once the engine is warmed up, the ECU cuts back on the fuel and goes into an open loop mode on the O2 sensors. Up until then, it is in closed loop and running off of a preprogramed fuel map with little variation to cope with the air/fuel ratio.

I just replaced the plug wires and have yet to test it under cold conditions, I will let the engine sit and see if the plug wires helped. Also I am making an appointment to get the exhaust manifold fixed for free so that may take care of it. How does the exhaust leak have anything to do with the warmup sequence? and If you could explaine the closed loop thing a little better please? Thanks.

after it warms up it is fine.

that leads me to believe it is some sort of vacuum or air leak somewhere.

Well I think Im gonna get the manifold fixed and just trade it in for a newer car. My fiance doesn't like the red sports car as I recked the first one I had "with her in it". ::Pours one for his red 90 celica gt:: I was out drifting "being stupid on public roads" And I hit a corner with sand on it, I turned wheel, car went straight, Me vs cement barrier, we all know who wins that one. I'll probly just let the dealership deal with it. Problem is finding another car that I like, And I'm picky, at least 5spd, sunroof, hatchback, 2.0L. My ideal car not dream but Ideal would be the 05 wrx sti but I need alot more money to get that one. I know the sti doesn't have exactly what I want but for its features I would compromise.

I am kind of thinking it is your throttle position sensor. I had similar problems and after removing it, cleaning it with starter fluid, and reinstalling it they went away. The problem was alot more prevelant when it was cold, seemed to almost go away when it warmed up.

lol, you're trading in your car because of one small problem?
the thing has 50k..
at least check your TPS/o2 sensors, vacuum hoses, and get the manifold fixed before that drastic of a move.

what are you planning on getting instead?
