hmm, the only difference i see is when im completely stopped, other than that i totally forget i dont have p/s.
Actually now that its been a while i rarely think about it even when i am stopped.
And I dont just go fast in a straight line either, around sharp curves i had no problems turning the wheel as far as the car can handle.
Well, i was a weightlifter too so maybe its just me lmao.gif
Sorry man, didnt mean to make you go through this for something you werent satisfied with, I just have no problems with any of the power steering being gone, and i didnt think it was just me.
Oh and 15lbs is even better than i weighed in at. (9.6 for just the pump.)

^^ It's no problem alex, Hell I'm the one that removed it lol.
I wonder why the hell it is so hard for me?? I'm not weak at all, lol, but that shit is HARD to turn at cruising speeds, even all my friends say so.
I would LOVE to leave it removed, but don't know if it is very safe to leave it the way it is. Did you leave your feed and return lines open? I sealed mine off with some RTV. Maybe that is why?
BTW: With the car jacked up, one good flip of the wheel and it spins lock to lock on its own, it is only when I get moving that it is a bioch!
I am going to remove the rtv and see what happens.

Yep i left my lines disconnected, Maybe the air pressure is making it hard.
Take the RTV off, if its still harder than hell, attempt to put the p/s back on.
I had to do a 5 point turn around today out of a friends driveway type thing (really really cramped driveway) and if you were watching me from the outside you would have assumed i had p/s and an auto. in reality i have no p/s, stick, stage 3 clutch. lol.

Just removed the rtv and it is still difficult.
So just to make sure, your saying there is NO difference between having and not having P/S when you are at cruising speeds?
Even if I am only going 25 mph, if I have to turn the wheel more than 1/2 a turn, it is pretty hard.
If it is more difficult please say so because right now you have me thinking that somehow I could make it easier?? LOL I am kind of confused.
The P/S rack isn't different between the rd1's and 2's is it?
Was it sort of difficult at first and then got easier?? I am going to leave the rtv off for a while but after a couple of days if it is still hard I will have to re-install it.
And oh yeah, at about 5-10 mph it is easy as pie for me to turn too, just at higher speeds.
I am wondering if it is because of my ksport coilovers and 3" drop??
Thanks for the answers alex, just trying to clarify some things.

I dont know man, as long as my tires are rotating, its easy for me. Id actually say the higher the speed the easier the turn. hmm.
At cruise speed theres a tiny-little more difficulty, a real real small amount.
yah i guess at first it took some getting used to, just give it a couple days. If you dont feel safe driving, then dont give it a couple days lol lmao.gif
I dunno, maybe its because of the suspension, ill be putting on coilovers eventually and if it becomes real hard after that we know its only a stock suspension mod, but if only you could hop in my car while i hop in your car and we would know for sure if its a real difficulty or just something you have to get used to and that i already am used to.

I'm 15lbs into this reduction. I'm aiming for a total of 50lbs. When people ask me whats with the sudden health kick, I just tell them its a weight reduction in the car.
I was at the track last weekend and watched a guy from NY with a neon take out all the glass except for the front windshield.

Well, I couldn't sleep last night so I decided to put the power steering back in!!!
All I can say is: smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif
OMG it is sooo much better with p/s. I am extremely happy with the car now that it is back in.
I don't give two craps about the weight reduction or drag, I will live with it for what it does.
I still think for some reason mine was harder to steer than alex's the way he explained the effort required, oh well, it's back in, and I love it. cool.gif

just removed the couter weight on the shift mech. seems to actually shift a bit nicer now, and that thing did weigh a ton for the size.
would swapping to non power mirrors save weight? ive never seen either set up torn apart, but that could be another option if your that hardcore.
