just as a reference i went to the dump to get rid of my old tv and at the same time i got my car weighed (w/o driver)-...

2,500 lbs (-25 lbs for old tv) from a stock curb weight of 2,633 lbs

here's how i did it-...
removed-
back seats, rear seat belts, rear floor mats, spare tire, jack, spare tire cover, rear seat/hatch cover, hatch floor cover, stock front seats (replaced w/ cheap-o ebay seats), glove box weight, stock flywheel (replaced w/ findanza), stock pulleys (replaced w/ obx), IM brace, exhaust shroud under car, exhaust manifold (replaced w/ headers), liners under engine bay, fog inserts, grills (replaced w/ gutter gaurd), hood (replaced w/ CF), hood latch (replaced w/ hood pins), rims (replaced w/ 15lb oz from lancer, perfect fit!), spark plug cover, upper timing belt cover, cruise control, windshield washer fluid resiviour and motors (nozzels too), shift knob (replaced w/ lighter), shifter (replaced w/ short shifter), various un-neccessary brackets and hardware, antenna-.... may be missing a thing or 2

after reading the "why wheels are more than just tire holders" you'd understand that for every pound you lose off un-sprung rotational mass it's like losing 10 pounds off the chasis-...

and i read some where else that for every 10 lbs off your car-... it's better than 1HP

so with a little math i have the gained an equivelant to around 20HP.

there are still a few items on the list that i am considering to further lighten my car-...

i should also mention that my car isn't as quiet as it used to be-... but slightly better on gas, quicker acceleration, and shorter stopping distances!

i hope this was useful!

a blow up doll wouldn't weigh that much...just blow it up and stick it in the passenger's seat...

The passenger airbag is about 6-10 lbs, driver is 5-7 I would say.

Coal_forge...

you probably have one of the most stripped out tibs on this site that i have witnessed. would you know by chance the weight of your car with 1/2 tank of gas?

I read somewheres one time that is how they weigh the curb weight of a car, with only 1/2 tank. could be wrong, its been awhile but i your is like a feather.

throw some montegi trak-lites on there and you would drop i think 28 lbs. of rolling inertia compared to oem stock wheels.

The driver's side airbag and stock steering wheel are actually quite heavy. I took both out in favor of a lighter Momo steering wheel.

Removing an airbag in an airbag equipped car is illegal is it not? Or is that just a scare tactic or just plain BS?
