this DIY kicks farkin' ass. i did mine last night - and it came out pretty damn spiffy!

i'm gonna' have to re-do it, because a little leaf landed in my paint on like.... coat 2 of the color (drives me nuts), but you have to look pretty hard to see it. i'll put up a pic soon for a new model color. i did mine in yellow. laugh.gif

i'm gonna' do the exhaust manifold shield tonight for a little dress-up until i get some headers. i'll post pics when it's all done!

if you follow the DIY, there's NO way to phuck this up unless your painting conditions suck. mine got a little colder halfway through the process, which is another reason i'm going to re-do it later. i literaly skimmed the post one time and just went to town - if you wanna' know how easy it is.

paint time = 2 hours if you wanna' be nice and patient. you can probably do it in an hour if you don't give a phuck. i recommend using the whole can if you want a nice vibrant color. just imagine it's one of your models when you were a kid (unless you sucked at models too. in that case, get a friend to paint it. hahaha)

Don't paint the oilcap, it'll discolor.

I know i'm resurrecting a old post but this is the best place to put it. I painted my cover blue and it looked fine when i put it on my car but when i let the car run for a little it seemed like the paint started to bubble. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem or has and incite onto it. I will try to take pictures tomorrow...If i can't get this to look right i may just save up some money for a beta 2 valve cover.

Under the hood needs high temp paint... I think the Duplicolor High-Temp is 500+, and thats what I used. If it bubbled, you used regular paint most likely or didn't let it dry enough.

I used the paint that redz suggested in the DIY above.
