Whether it's always been off or not, it's off in that picture. Look at the colored marks I made. The red tooth should be in the green link, not the red link.

EDIT: Wait, I just noticed, it looks like you intake is off one tooth the other direction as well. So, your exhaust looks like it's off two teeth.

The white marks on the cams should match up to the white marks on the chain.

It would run different. Cars react differently. I'd have to hear it. Are there 36 teeth?

My car is f'ed after workin on the cams... it keeps clicking.
So im getting mechanic to install my old 2.0 cams with another set of new HLA's

If it does i will do the 1,8 cam install myself.

So Some 1 pls post the DIY!!!
If not i got CHILTON...

Ya i was looking at this last night, his marks are all messed up. the chain markings are off. Going off your pic if the red dots meet up that means that the starting point on the chain is correct but it looks like the chain was not marked correctly. 5 links between marks. this one only has 4. I would get a new chain unless you are 100% sure on what you are doing. Remarkably that before picture has correct timing if you follow webtech and the 5 link rule.

Question though, why didnt you TDC 1 the cams and timing before you started. makes that whole find the mark much easier?

So here are the before and after shots meshed together, are you guys saying that I need to move them 1 link closer together? Also, shouldn't my engine not run well if they aren't aligned?

Why don't you line them up so all you have to do is count? It's easy enough to turn the cams from the pulley or the flats cast into the exhaust cam.

Huh... I didn't even think to count his links. I just assumed the white marks were OEM and correct. There's only 3 links between his marks and there should be 4. His timing is actually correct, it's the markings that are screwed up.
