I had the 1.8 in my car at one point. I totally hated it. The engine response was cool and IACV didn't have the annoying hang but underload it was horrible. Also it like to make alot of backfire every time I engine braked or inbetween shifts. Low end was horrible and high end wasn't noticible at all. Shifting was better since the rpms droped so quickly during a shift.

The same years would be Rev A and non Rev A.

Like I've said about 1 BILLION TIMES, if you get a 98 or higher Tiburon or Elantra ECU it will NOT be a REV A.

The ones on that site are way too expensive anyways.

i didn't post the link for the price i know there to expensive .... but with the link we have all ecu number and what car there from but i don't know if the info is 100% correct and didn't find anything on hmaservice....

 

My parts car happens to be a 98 Elantra... with a 39110-23940. Of course I had to change the ECUs!

Pulling it out from a car with a standard transmission and no power anything, it almost fell on my head...

...putting it into a car with an automatic and power everything plus an alarm,

yeah, that sucks.

I'll post up results in a week or 2 for MPGs and performance impressions. Maybe, plus pictures of where the bracket almost sliced the skin entirely off the top of one of my knuckles through my glove. Doh. 02.gif

I drove it around the block just to be sure it would run and not throw crazy CELs... it did, and it didn't. Direct compatibility between standard and automatic tranny cars: confirmed (again).

heres a new ECU, i just got from RED, 39110-23944. Ill post back once i get city/higway mpgs. no power gains noticed or smoother idle yet. shifting was smoother (i have an auto).

Edit: udate 13MPG city before ECU, now 19MPG city. highway is yet to come. but powerband is better in the 2000-4000RPM area.

 

Update: my exhaust manifold being cracked is the likely source of my P1127 CEL. I used to get intermittent P1128 CELs during the rainy season, and sho' nuff it rained the second day I drove with the 1.8L ECU...

Power is *maybe* a tiny bit better at the top of the powerband BUT the mileage increase is crazy. Even with the too-lean CEL, and the car trying to dump fuel to correct...

4 MPG increase in mixed driving. On my commute driving like always. From 28 to 32 miles per gallon. For comparison, 31 is what I got on a highway trip the tank before, and the all-time high is 34, on the highway, with 2oz/10gal. acetone in the gas.
