Yeah, you guys that have done this and have a CEL related to it did something wrong. Many folks have done it, including on the RD1 I've got, with no problems at all. Total removal, not a relocation.
Either you have a cracked hose, a loose connection, a cracked cannister, hoses mounted to the wrong plugs, a clogged hose, or a bad solenoid.
That's about all that it can be.

Yeah this whole thing is legit. You're not supposed to run any "see through" lines up to the engine bay. As for the evap cannister being up in there too, I really don't know about the legal laws of that.
I have thoroughly checked everything and have sealed all the conections with hot glue. There are no leaks and let's say there was some leak somewhere, how in the heck would it be sucking in too much from the fuel tank? And it can't be some sensor because the same thing happened to all of us.
The "wiring together writeup" DIY from hp.com? was a little bit difficult for me to follow with those pictures, although I could SWEAR I got everything hooked up right, even bought all the right connectors. I still DO NOT understand how that DIY could work pressurizing the fuel tank right. However the same exact thing happened! The spluttering and the unsureness of the fuel pressure. When I go to get the CEL checked out it always comes out as the same code and it always causes the fuel cap to suck in air when opened. I will have pics of this tomorrow dudes. I have tried numerous times to connect things differently too. Nothing worked. I am almost 100% certain that the Valve is sucking the wrong sh*t. Everything is new there too. The valve is factory new I ordered, the fuel pipes are brand new and not clogged, the blue thing is brand spankin' new... And there is a conneciton with the valve because I hear it working about 5 times within that 40 miles before the CEL goes off.
Rd1tib, are you sure that's how it's supposed to be connected? Maybe we're jumping into conclusion and forgetting that maybe at least two hoses need to be switched around? Something is causing the valve to overpressurize the engine bay somehow.
Blacktibs, that's expensive buddy no? Would you be able to make a post explaining how you converted the sh*t? This crap is driving me INSANE because I can't have the car performing like it needs to be for 2 years now.

Ok i think i got it down. when my CEL was turning on ocasionally it was a different problem. so i thinki had it right. the black filter is hooked up to the bottom of the solenoid then to the atmospheric release. the horizontal outlet of the solenoid is hooked up to the blue part with the smaller end pointing toward the solenoid which is hooked up directly to the evap cannister.
i had no pressure or undecisive gear issues after that hooked up that way. i will post pics when i'm done.

it's you guys who to thank, and i do for putting up with my mystery! the same code kept popping up and had to do with fuel pressure. it wasn't until now that i have discovered it's a different problem that's causing the fuel pressure to get messed up with the exception that the solenoid, purge and tank tubes when unplugged did make driving worse.
i will post up some pics of the extension when i get my car back. let's hope that other problem isn't anything too serious.
again, thanks.

i drew it up. checked and checked and checked over and over. please tell me if it is wrong. i made SURE there are no leaks. i bought some 3/8 fuel tubing and a universal hose connector so the 3/8 tube went into the 1/4 hose securely. i also checked and it matches up with this DIY.
my only problems are the CEL is still there and i'm waiting for it to go away and i when i took out the solenoid i found some water vapor in there which i don't know if it is normal but at the beggining when i had a clear pipe i also found water and would fizzle from the pressure.
maybe another reset will get rid of the CEL. as soon as i plugged it in this way, the car drives like a dream again without any hesitation and feels a lot quicker! as far as i know right now, you have my word there are no leaks, i did the absolute best i could and the tubes are extended just the way i've shown on this diagram.
