DIY - Resetting your ECU

Vehicle: 2001 Hyundai Tiburon, 2004 Kia Sorento, 2010 Kia Soul
I do 2 things to reset my ECU, every time.
1. Open the fuse box in the engine bay and remove the ECU relay.
2. Pull up the power connector.
That's it.

my dummy lights come on and the engine will crank with both the ecu fuse pulled and the power connector up. Is there supposed to be something else? with the exception of the acessories, and the car not cranking up, the car seems like it's still got power. It cranks, but won't turn over.

I tried that and it worked like a charm! That's the best method yet. I don't even have to discharge my capacitor anymore! Thanks Z!

sooo thats it just pull my ecu fuse relay out then pull up on the power connector and then right after that put the ecu fuse back in and press down the connector thats it no warming up the car or turning your key into the on position please some one let me know if im right

Yes, as mentioned dozens of times by multiple members in the Shoutbox, just do it. There are several ways to reset your ECU: Pull the ECU relay, disconnect the battery, etc. etc.

Please read and follow the forum rules.
Why would you need to let your car warm up before doing this? You CAN turn your key to the on position if you want, I don't think it'll make a difference my way.
