That'll release the pressure BEHIND the pump, but not whats' in front of it.

What about loosening the fuel rail bolt? I know that in my old Honda that worked. I dont see why it wouldn't work for this as well. I very well could be wrong.

The fuel rail bolt?
The one that holds on the FPR? You can do that, then spray pressurized fuel everywhere.
The 2 that hold on the fuel supply end? Same thing.

...
Why? You'll spill a LOT of fuel. When you can just do it PROPERLY, the way it's supposed to be done, and spill less than a cup of fuel.

I used a rag and a drip pan... It was worth the buck in fuel not to have to pull out my back seat. I have alot of wires back there which would be a PITA to disturb. If you loosten the fuel filter, place a rag around it, and let the fuel drip into a drip pan, it's effective, but like REDZMAN said, you waste more fuel.

1. How do you disturb wiring by pulling up the lip of the back seat? You don't REMOVE the back seat, you just pull up on it, and it pops out. Do you have wiring running THROUGH the seat? I've got wires I've run UNDER the seat, and none are disturbed when I pull my seat up.
2. Who cares how much the gas costs, it's the hazzard of having gas spray all over. Or drip all over. Environmental hazard, safety hazard.
Just do it right, and everything is safe. Why would you go out of your way to make it harder and messier?
Some of you folks are lazy.

I have two big bolts holding mine down in the back. I can't lift it up far enough to get at the fuel pump, and to remove those bolts I also have to remove the seat backs... It's a pain, but it's sooo much better having no pressure when messing with the fuel lines.
Is mine strange with those bolts? Could I permanently remove them next time I'm in there?
