I'm one of the cool Genesis owners. I love all Hyundai's especially Velosters and Tibs. I do get treated differently though because I'm a female and have a Genny. Met a couple of owners who told me go talk to my boyfriend or brother if I want my car to perform well, just because I asked a couple of questions. I work on my car myself and I dont need no man to help me. But it would of been nice if they treated me fairly and helped me with the questions I had. Stupid boys and their egos.

 

Like I said in my other post, the young immature members are whats giving the genesis community a bad reputation. Eventually the people who are sick of their bullshit will leave and it really wont take time before they find this place. All the genesis owners on this site that are hoping more genesis owners come here only have to wait a short amount of time because people are getting sick of whats happening on sites like gencoupe.com



The good people will leave and come here, and the bad people will stay there making their site nothing but garbage, false info, egos, and ridiculous staff. I'm sure if any of those types try and come here, they will get flamed and kicked off....keeping this place as pure as possible so that that dumbass genesis owners dont ruin what a great place this is.



However, the reputation will always be apart of the genesis community because of those types of people ruining it for it. Theres nothing we can do with it other than just accept the fact that we're gonna have to live with the rep and try to be informative as possible to new genesis owners. We, as good people have to instruct them that if they want to be apart of a GOOD community that doesnt have the egos, dumbasses, immature, and nazi members, then they come here. Otherwise they can go to the dark side and join sites like gencoupe.

Wait, what?! So you're a girl and you showed interest in cars...and they blew you off? Are you sure they weren't gay? I'm sorry, if any girl shows interest in subjects like cars or computers, I'll talk their ear off. (Maybe that's why I was single for so long? *hmmm*)



So far the GenCoupe owners I've met in person have been really nice and accepting. When we had a meet, we didn't talk crap about other cars, especially other Hyundais. I think we did laugh at an early 90's Buick, lifted with 22's...but come on, that's fair game!



So yea...I'm a GenCoupe owner and I'm not smug. I own a Hyundai, not a Ferrari.

Nah, not really. I had a Tib owner look down on me... I was trying to be nice and talk to him since we both had Hyundais out at a local meet. And he got all huffy puffy with me. 'The Gen is slow, and I got such and such, and such and such...' But, come to find out the guy is just a dick anyway. The world is very small. I went on TDY out at Warner-Robbins, GA. Met his ex-girlfriend while shopping at American Eagle. She told me all about him.

 

The 2 GC people that i have "met", aka drove by, were pricks. Im an a**hole, but talk to me about cars and ill yap away. i love learning. but these dicks think their cars are better than mine. I dont get it.

Most of the GC owners I cruise with are really down to earth and just like cars in general. You go to the big meets and find some stuck up owners who think that their GC is the be all end all. In that case the rotten apple spoils the crop.



I love my Genesis and think its boss, but I give props to anyone else with a clean car and who is a chill person. I would be a hypocrite if I was any other way. Sometimes I go crash the local classic show and shine (American cars, mostly classics, some customs, etc) and I get all sorts of looks because I have a foreign korean car. You get the feeling like you are not worthy to be in the presence of some of these guys. Very few actually come up and ask me about the car, and they are surprised when the look under the hood and realize that its 300+hp RWD.



If I looked down on other Hyundai owners I would be no better than those who look down on my car.

 

I don't blame the car owners...or the type of car. I blame the Idiots who run the forum, the Morans they allow to be moderators.



The site admins/owners set the tone for what is/isn't allowed in the forum.

The forum moderators are in charge of enforcing/keeping the Peace.



When you've got a poorly run forum, the a**holes and Morans take over. Those of you who have been around long enough can remember some of the BADLY run Hyundai forums. Those were Accent/Scoupe/Sonata/RD1/RD2 owners. That's all there was back in the day (oh, and Jed with his PONY). And there were a lot of a**holes, because they were allowed to be a**holes.



It's not the car owners. It's the site owners/moderators.

There are plenty a**holes here driving all kinds of cars (even Prius's). But they get warned, then temporarily banned, then permanently banned...and then we have 1 less a**hole....

 

I figured I might check this place out since one of my favorite vendors at Gencoupe (G&M) is migrating over here.



And this is the first thread I see in the Genesis forum.



Really HA? You guys pride yourselves for being so much more mature than Gencoupe yet you guys have THIS kind of thread to welcome us? Did you ever stop for a minute, Red Tib, and think that maybe, just maybe, it's not fair of you to generalize an entire community based on just a few people?



And of course, you gotta love the HA > Gencoupe thread stickied at the top of this forum. Gotta love the bit about how the mods dictate the mood...



I agree that oftentimes the guys at GC are a bit much, but at least I don't see this kind of garbage.



I'll stick around to see what comes up, but this has left a bad taste in my mouth of HA in general.
