Well after some annoyance, you can read about it here:

I used to have cut springs and the car did NOT bounce like a honda. YES, it was stiff but it was ok to me. I had 2 coils in the front and 1.5 in the back.

now I have Vogtland springs and KYB struts. but it was because I had a weird rattle and it ended up being my exhaust. LOL

DAMMIT JIM!
I don't suppose you took a pic of how well they were seated on their perches? Did you ever hit any nasty potholes when they were installed, and they stayed in place?
I might have to still try it after all.

From my experience they stay in place. The incorrect mounting angle bites into the lower strut mount, which means you'll have to replace it frequently or deal with squeeking struts.

Replace the lower strut mount? Boo. It seems like you could dress the bottom of the spring (so it was rounded) when you cut it, and it would bang but not chew on the mount. No? What about reshaping the mount (w/ a hammer) so the angle was more correct.
Come on people I want your opinions FAST, my wife is out of town THIS WEEK only and she is starting to bug me about ditching this parts car.

Personally, I'm of the oppinion that modification to a car is great. I like to hear about bold new ideas. IMO, doing it yourself is something to be more proud of then going out and throwing money at a car, especially if it comes out well.
You've got to think functionality before fashion though. Modifying the strut mount is asking for trouble. If you decide to buy a set of lowering springs, the mount will be all crushed and bent so that the intended springs won't fit. Modifying the springs is all fine and dandy, but you've got to remember that the piece of metal that you're modifying is holding up 1/4 of your car. If you start shaving portions off the part that mounts to the car, it makes it less sturdy. Chopping a full coil off of the car is going to make it sit low, but the removed material from the spring would make it sit lower then that because it's going to flex more. Also, it will sit lower then just a removed ring because it's flattened. not to mention, it could snap and your spring could rotate in the mount.
What you're talking about is pretty risky man. The only reason I cut my springs was because the company who sold them to me, assured me that the part number printed on the spring matched the model of my car when in fact they were for a 03 tiburon. Granted they were a different model spring then you're working with, but the same principals apply, the only difference is the fronts were taller and the rears were 1 ring wider at the base.
if it were me, I'd rather buy a trusty $40 e-bay coilover kit.

I don't WANT to mess up my car, that's why I haven't done it yet!
If I got new springs I would prolly get new struts @ the same time because these are pretty well just there to keep the springs in place anymore (well not that bad but you get the point).
