how far can you last on springs?
i had intrax springs and kyb sturts on my excel and that lasted me almost 90k....i followed rather large trucks and had flashy lights!! i drove on every type of road the great USA can offer...and i was fine! my camber however...well thats a different story!
Just to clear up things, the springs are rarely the problem, they should last at least 60K miles or more (that's factory recommendation, I think they could easyly double that if you don't drive over rough terrain or on very severe conditions).
The Shocks are different thing, they should last as Spiffywerks say, like 30K miles on sport springs (because of the variable rate). If you don't want to spend too much, you can install the springs first, and then after a few months put a set of Kyb Gr-2, I have them and they are OK for normal driving, and they are not expensive. The thing is how much are you going to spend to change the springs/shocks each time.

I've had my Eibachs for about 15000 miles and have had no problems with them. They ride nice too. better than stock springs.
My only complain is that I didn't go with the dampers too. Since, you're gonna take off the struts when you change your springs anyway. might as well do the work once and do both the springs and struts. It'll take the same amount of time. If you have a couple of friend, air compressor, air gun and spring compressor, it should only take about 2-2.5 hours to do the job.
If you want to see how Eibach looks click on my sig.

Jaws021, what he means is that with aftermarket springs, the OEM shocks don't last much. That's not due to the drop (only) but mostely for the different way this sport springs are built and designed. OEM springs are constant compression ratio, the Eibachs, H&R, and other good springs are variable compression ratio, that means they are soft when you compress them very little (that's to avoid a harsh ride) but they tend to get more and more strong the more you compress them (that gives you less body roll).umm...springs on stock struts?!? why? that's just asking to blow them
The best would be to change springs and schocks, if you just don't have the money to install new shocks (and you don't want to wait till you have the money) just put the springs with OEM shocks, but be aware that they wont last much longer (maybe a couple of months depending on your driving, use and terrain conditions).
Hope that helps you a bit.
