Sat night, car is cleaned, im shaved and ready to go clubbing...

So im on my way to anaheim, home of the los angeles angels ...

So im getting on the off ramp. As i start to try to slow down... i notice...

I HAVE NO BREAKS!

I start downshifting, and then realize the intersection was clear (i had a red light), so i floor it and take the light. After some downshifting and e-braking i managed to get the car to a stop. Then i had to drive home (From anaheim to LAX) using the same methods...

I am lucky there was not any traffic..

Anyways..
All the sh1t lines are coming off..

This is the second one to bust,...

Any details on how it "busted"? I mean, did you get underneath and see if it was a fitting or a cut in the line? This can be useful information for the rest of us. I did not get ss brake lines in the gb, but I was thinking about buying some in the future.

 

Wow, that really sucks. When I did stainless fuel lines, the people who made then messed up my first two and then finally got it right. It seems that who ever made the first two sets was useing the wrong ends so it was leaking on and off. Did your link actually burst (in the center) or did one of the ends rupture.

 

both of mine got messed up on the end fitting towards the brake line leading to the brake cyl. NOT the caliper

The first one slowly oozed out.

This one just gushed out.

They are just not bonded good enough at the ends for me to even trust these fvckers again.

Im lucky i tried slowing down early and noticed the problem. I dont even want to try to imagine what would have happened if i was boosting and there was traffic...

So... these suckers are coming off..

 

I dont blame you. Brakes are not something you can do without.

 

k, last questions. Did you use teflon tape when installing the lines? Did the fittings feel like they stripped or would not get tight? Sounds to me like the fittings are weak on those lines :.

 

no i did not use teflon tape.. and they did leak from that part..

the part where it was leaking from was where the plastic/steelbraid met its own fitting...

Ive never seen brake lines with teflon tape..

 

It sounds like they crimped the ends on wrong. Or atleast one of them. I agree tho, I have never used teflon tape on braided lines. The fittings are made it such a way that it is not needed.

 

I was throwing that out there, because I have seen fittings where teflon was used. This indicates that the fittings were either not flared right, or the threads were too weak/loose.
