Default The new project

91 Isuzu Impulse RS AWD turbo. Only 800 imported to North America, not many remain today. It MIGHT need a clutch, not too sure. It's being stored for the winter, the fun begins in spring! Thoughts? Opinions? Comments? My family thinks I'm nuts. They don't seem to understand what the word PROJECT means.

You best keep a build thread or I'ma slap your sh*t. How come you can't start wrenching straight away?

I`m not working on it right now for many reasons. Biggest one is I need to save up for the repairs/parts. It took me 10 LONG years to find it, I`m sure waiting a few more months before starting the work won`t kill me.

I'm guessing you know what this car is then? Most people just look at me with a puzzled look on their face. The guy that towed it home for me thought it was a Skyline........ seriously.

I'll keep you posted.

Yeah man, the impulse and stylus were really swell cars. It's ridiculous that you found a turbo AWD one though.

We got that platform as the Holden Piazza in Australia, but I've literally never seen one. All we got were the rotten old FWD 'holden' gemini.

Please restore this to mint stock condition.

Finding this car was close to impossible, I had actually given up any hope of finding one. I went to look at it not thinking it would be worth buying. As soon as a saw it had been undercoated, never winter driven, was originally from the USA and had a perfect rust free floor and wheel wells, I pulled out the cash. Believe it or not, I never even pulled the oil dipstick or opened the rad before buying it.

It already has quite a few mods, and is apx. 65 hp+ above stock form.

- Approximately 220hp+

- Full equip (electric, doors, windows, sunroof, cruise control)

- 98 xxx KM (Ex owner has legally changed the Miles to KM. Papers to prove)

- Portmatched head

- All fresh 2xxx KM Thunderbird IHI turbo with FMIC Custom 2.5" piping

- Thunderbird 370cc brown top injectors

- Clutch Bully stage II DF performance

- 1.8L cams with hydraulic lifters

- Blitz Blow-off Valve

- Walbro 190lph fuel pump

- All AC components removed

- 2.5" catback w/ 5zigen style fireball muffler

- Gutted precat

- KYB GR2 struts

- Autometer boost and A/F ratio gauges

- Boost Controller set @14psi

- Blitz Turbo Timer

- Rust proof every year

Goal is to get it running and moving, drive it for the summer, and if things go well, perform a modest body restoration over the winter next year. I still plan to keep my Accent, but have given up on doing anything extreme to it. Buying a Gen Coupe would be sweet, but I can think of some other things I can spend 30k on.

Isuzu FTW!

Had a neighbor that had one of these a few years ago.

They look really unique. Good luck with the build man!

So what work do you need to do to it? I gather that it's not running.

It runs. It just doesn't move. lol. Probably needs a clutch, still investigating. With the car being parked so far away from me it's hard to work on it. Other than the clutch, it needs a front control arm, and an exhaust leak fixed. I'm also having a problem with the fuse for the battery blowing when I try to start it. This problem just started happening after I tried to start it in gear??? I'm sure it needs a million other little things too. I'll know better in the Spring. I expect to spend a few thousand on it to get it on the road.

And if it makes it though the first summer with little to no problems I'll probably spend another thousand on the body.
