Exactly why I did it. And had to fit the dump tube in there also.

i solved my belt contact problem today..

so far it's done ;-)
i'll just fix little details to get it to my taste, then i'm posting some pics

i think if you turbo, this is one of the most to do...cause your A/C is going to rob you of a ponies anyway...

here's a quick preview of how it will look like...
i re-used the A/C idler pulley to get proper belt contact on the alternator and crank pulleys
made a new rear mount (doh!) and also made a new ''link'' to tie the other side of the alternator the the block itself
i'll try to make a jig and get some costing either this week end or in the beginning of next week....


may we have large downpipes!!!!!!

Cant see how your bracket is but mine is set up almost exactly like that with the AC pulley used for tensioning. Really a great solution for downpipes and not burning up the alternator. Good work! fing02.gif

i could go with a regular "slide type" bracket on the bottom to adjust the belt tension and not use the AC idler
but doing so i'm not having enough belt contact on both alternator and crank pulley

anyway,most guy here either have or had AC on their car, or can easily get an idler from a local yard...
