Hello everyone,
I have been searching ebay, and started to wonder if anyone might have a 2.0 Beta I with low miles on it (under 75k).
Looking to start my turbo build soon.
All I really need is the block with a crank, but rods and pistons would be nice to confirm the rod length and so on.
Need something in good shape with minimal rust and corrosion.
Please post up and PM me if you have anything.

Hurry and get that post erased so nobody else gets it!!
LOL, j/k.
Sounds good, anyone else with engines be sure to chime in though, would like to have it built and ready to go in by then, just like your idea.
Of course I could just buy all the necessary parts until then.
It would also be nice if someone within a few hours drive of wilmington, de had something so I could just pick it up ya know?
Thanks.

Well, the only other major mod I could do at this point is the 1.8L pistons to get me to 11:1 compression, and I don't know how much power that will add. Maybe 10 hp I would guess.
If I have to rip apart the block I want to make it worth while you know? If I could get 20 hp out of the 1.8's then I might do it, but who knows? Anyone?
I still might use this for my NA build but I am not sure.
Thanks.

From what I know, raise a full point in CR (as from 10:1 to 11:1) should give around 5%-10% of power increase... but that is in a mildly moded engine, like CAI and exhaust only... I don't know if it applies the same, higher or lower to severe moded engines like yours, what I know is it would be sweet to see you try and share the results...
After all, it should be simpler and more reliable to mantain than a turbo setup, besides, you are almost at the point of THE MOST you can get out of a NA Beta (at least the most in a non full race engine) so why not take the extra step? After that you can move to FI knowing you did everything to your NA engine... (and still move to your new block)

LOL,
If only shipping were cheaper my man...
Zman,
I think if I were to get 20 hp out of the pistons, which might be doable? I would try it. I can do it in a weekend if I get the pistons pressed onto some rods ahead of time. I would just have to use a ball hone on the bores and drop the oil pan.
It would be sweet to try it as I have a 1.8 in the basement that I could yank the pistons out of for free.
I guess I could use the rods that are in the car, I could swap them myself I think, just need a press and a torch, and I already have the torch.
This is getting my interest peaked.
I wonder how the ecu would respond to the pistons?

without good tuning? I doubt youd see much.
Honestly with your setup you have now and some good pistons you could get close to 400hp out of it with a turbo. More if you get some rods as well.
I know you loved doing the NA build but if its power you want turbo is the way to go. You could even do a 300hp setup and it would be pretty reliable. Also, I have some spare 2.0 rods out of a beta2. Should work for you so let me know if you want some spares.
