Default CNK, I would love to see you offer this!!!

I saw the con rods that you're going to start offering and that is AWESOME!!! My question is, would it be possible to see some sort of INSANE upgrade package in your turbokits??? I'd love to see like a package that would include your forged rods, forged pistons that would handle the same amount of power, and a light weight crank and all of it balanced and blueprinted. The crank isn't as big a deal as the pistons though. I know that this seems like a lot to ask but this is ONE of the major things that I'd like to do to my car. My goal power is 500+whp. I'm sure that it would all come at a price but nothing's cheap anymore. I kinda doubt that I'm the only one that would like to see this sort of upgrade package. I'd just like to be the first one to say that as far as I'm concerned this sort of thing is in demand. I'd like to hear everyone's side on this though and see if there's anyone else that would like this. I have a good feeling that Batlord would like to get something like that in the near future.

Russ,

Thanks man - building 500WHP is not a problem, but IT DOES cost ALOT of money.... !

I am busy speaking to someone about machining up a stronger differential for the Beta's and I4's, and this will materialise soon en0ough.

I have a pal in the USA In Miami his name is Harry (met him off the forums) and I am building him a 400WHP application at the moment, the only thing holding us back now is the diff.

I also have a spare engine that I am building for a very big race day at a new track that is opening up in July - we are aiming to get as close as possible to the 10's as we can on street tires with our show car (full of sound, and other goodies) Pictures will come soon.

So would it be possible to see you release pistons that will take the same kind of abuse that your new rods will take sometime in the near future? From what I've heard, the pistons that you distribute with your kit presently will only handle 250-300hp. What I'm saying with this post is would it be possible to see some sort of (obviously expensive) upgrade package with your new rods, some pistons that will also eat 500-550hp, and possibly even a lightweight crank of equal or greater strength and be ALL balanced and blue printed. I would be willing to pay quite a bit for something like this and I would love to get all of these internals with a kit from the same company (mainly to save on shipping). If you were to start offering such a thing is there any guess on how much you might charge? I would pay from $1800 and as much as $2100 for something like this package gladly. Please let me know what you think CNK.

i can agree on this one. it sucks getting forged pistons here and con rods there then no where for the crank shaft.. at least that i know of.. i would pay for a nice kit myself. but right now i have to figure out the diff problem to. i would love to have 500whp but it would suck not to be able to use it due to the diff.

Tigerlilly whom sells through k-spec offers lightweight crankshafts. There's a group but on Quaife LSDs on this forum and Tigerlilly also offer LSDs. www.kspec.com !!!

Russ --

Yes is is possible, BUT time is not on my side at the moment. I have the Con-Rods to finish first and this is most important at this stage.

I will design and test a piston soon enough though. The pistons which I send with the kits are rated at 300CRANK HP --- BUT obviously are under-rated as per the proof in bat lords car. I know that the pistons will handle alot more than what Bat is making now - I however do not recommend using more than 280WHP with them to maintain reliability!

I'm not interested in making up a crank at all - and won't be doing this type of work in the future either. The standard crank is more than good enough for this type of HP reliably, but if you want to do something, get the crank ballanced, weighted (each lobe must weigh the same) and perhaps knife edge and polish it.

I would be able to offer the rods and pistons for ALOT less than $2100.00 or even $1800.00 but crank shafts ... forget about it, I just don't have the time.

The diff problem, is being sorted out as we speak --- I have a friend who is going to do machining for me to test in the coming months I will be putting 450 - 550WHP through the diff with modded gears and shafts to test it's ability or reliability.... will let you know.

This piece will also cost MUCH LESS than Quaife's ridiculous price!

Hope this helps,

Well I'm not talking about getting a stronger crank...that would be an empty gesture. I'm talking about a lightweight crank. This would help the engine rev quicker and easier and slightly increase the redline ability. I understand Chris not wanting to make cranks though as it would be a very intensive process. I am aware that the stock crank will eat crap loads of power and doesn't NEED changed out. Though I am planning on a higher redline, I am not ruling out a lightweight crank. I appreciate your input Chris and look forward to seeing all of the products that you are going to be testing. Also, as long as your LSD can eat close to 600hp then I will DEFINITELY buy from you before I'd buy from Quaife.

Russ -

If you want more RPM, then I suggest you balance the bottom end, and run stronger rods.

Then lighten the head components, change valve guides, retainers and springs (for stiffer ones) This will allow you to rev cleanly to around 8000RPM - RELIABLY.

I never play with cranks, as I believe that they are designed and manufactured in certain weights for a reason, the Hyundai engine has crank balancing beams (those H looking things) for a reason also.
