Chris, I was 100% planning on balancing the bottom end and reenforcing the timing. From what I've heard, taking weight away from moving components helps them move easier and faster. But if you suggest otherwise then I'll at LEAST reconsider doing a light weight crank. It would be $800 that I would save anyways

Russ,

What you heard is true --- BUT to what extent? HOW MUCH less weight are we talking here?

If it is miniscule and costs a pocket full - it aint worth it in my opinion. On the other end of the coin, if the crank weighs ALOT less, then you need to question what material is being used, and if this is strong enough for the HP yuo intend making.... Alot of the time with almost all performance components, there is a sacrifice!

I'm not saying that light weight cranks are not worth while --- ust do your homework before jumping onto the bandwagon...

balancing and weight balancing is easy and cost effective, and the gains are noticable also. this is the type of mod you want.

I wouldn't consider it a bandwagon as to the fact that the crank costs $800 and there don't seem to be a whole lot of people buying it. I'm not sure what it was made out of or how much less it weighed as it was offered through Tigerlilly whom sold through kspec. They are no longer on kspec's site so I can't contact them. Hopefully this isn't the last we'll hear from Tigerlilly as they had very good engine minded upgrades.
