Default Alpine Sipercharger

Hello,

I have been running your supercharger on my UK 2.0l Tiburon for over a year now. I am making around 171bhp, although I understand that you were able to get better performance from it over in SA. I have heard that this is mainly due to the differences in the mapping of our ECUs. Are you aware of any way in which I could change the program on my ECU to be similar to yours so that I may make a similar power to the SA cars?

I would be interested in hearing of any other ways in which I could gain more power from my Tiburon. I am currently considering a water-injection system to lower the compression in the hope of being able to increase the boost on the supercharger, which I believe can be done by taking 2mm off the pulley? - any information about increasing the boost or making more power would be gratefully received, I have listed my current modifications.

4-2-1 exhaust header
exhaust (no cat)
big bore throttle body
cams from the F2 Evolution (approx .43 more lift)
induction kit

Xorro...

The first thing I would do, based on your current modifications, would be to find an "authorized" Dastek or Unichip dealer closest to you in the UK where you live in order to have the Unichip custom-tuned for the cams. Any changes to fuel and timing would make this necessary for optimum performance from the Unichip.

Second, we are re-engineering this kit for the U.S. market, and are looking at ways to "simplify" and possibly eliminate the need for the Unichip. We expect results by the end of February at the latest. Plus, once "re-engineered", we plan to develop a "stage one", and possible "stage two" upgrades ourselves for this application, and anticipate having some of these available by March!

Either check back in here in a month or two, or e-mail me to get put on my "update" list to receive new information on this application when available. Thanks for your interest and patience.]

Xorro-
Just a clairification.
Water injection will NOT lower your compression. Water injection, when used properly, absorbs heat, and increases the effective octane level of the fuel. It increases air density by cooling, but also displaces oxygen/fuel.

If you want to raise the boost (smaller pulley) consider lowering your compression via pistions, combustion chamber work (head), or a head spacer (in order of preference). Water injection will allow a higher boost pressure simply because of the increase in effective octane/lower intake air charge temps, not because it lowers compression.

ballrub,

Thanks for the info. I have already had the Unichip tuned to match all of my mods. I'll drop you an email about the updates though smile.gif

Random,

OK, OK smile.gif I could've worded it better wink

BTW, what was the place that does the low-compression pistons?
