They have dyno sheets, but how do I know thats the rough tune that comes with the unichip for the car?

The Unichip is programmed for the max useable safe power. The air fuel ratio at WOT starts at 12.5 and drops down to 11.5-12.0 at max RPM. Its a little richer on the non-decompressed kits to help raise the detonation threshold. They are pretuned to handle up to 15psi. Of course going that high will require an intercooler.
Altitude will not affect the tune because the internal MAP sensor has altitude compensation built in.

One more thing... the dyno on the site for the base kit is at what PSI, and what PSI does the turbo come set with via the spring?

I had to sell my GSX for college money (quite depressing... made a profit off making the car however) so I'm going to check the compression in my stock motor this weekend. If its good, I'll probably buy the base kit and install over the winter. smile.gif

I didn't know the kit came with a MAP, so the Unichip can use that to see what pressure is being run and change on its own? Pretty nifty.

Aahh.... I went to look and order...

Homey posted the wrong thing... he posted the options for the Beta II. There are only two types of kits for the Beta I, non intercooled with decompression gasket... and intercooled with decompression.

There is no $2400 kit available for the Beta I. Cheapest kit is $2750.

Why is there no TD013H turbine/non intercooled/non decompressed option available? The Beta I and Beta II have the same compression ratio... so its not like its too dangerous to run non-intercooled at stock compression on the Beta I.

That's my bad. I updated the website incorrectly. The Non-intercooled non-decompressed kit will work on both the BetaI and II with no problems. Thanks for pointing that out.

EDIT: The only difference between the Beta I and II kits will be different wiring for the Unichip and a little more timing pulled. The Beta I knock sensor is not as quick acting as the Beta II so we have to pull more to make sure its safe. You might lose upwards of 10WHP when compared to BetaII power levels.

Got ya, thought so. I figured that because since I'm at college I'm letting my mom handle ordering it for me, she talked to John this morning and he said there was a $2400 kit available.

Also, for those intimidated by the tapping of the oil pan, John is offering to tap them for you for a $175 fee, with $100 of that refunded through a core charge. Didn't see that anywhere on the Alpine site so I figured I'd mention it.

Uhm, couldn't we swap to the Beta 2 knock sensor?

Why does ImportShark sell the IC and non IC kits cheaper than Alpine?
