I did answer, I edited the post. I dont think the filter was oiled. Maybe it was I dunno, I doubt it was, it was a cheap @ss thing from Auto Zone. Anyway it's like at least 6 montsh old now so if the oil got in there I'm sure I wouldve noticed by now. There's a purple anondized one Im thinking about getting when I go to replace this one. That is if I cant afford a polished AEM CAI.

...

You don't understand.

There are 3 basic kinds of filters.

1. Foam.

2. Paper.

3. Oiled Media.

The Oiled Media ones are filters that come with OIL ON THEM. This helps them trap the particulate matter coming through the filter and hold onto it. At high RPM's, this oil can get sucked off and up into the MAF.

if you want to put an air filter up there, get the AEM dryflow filter, but it costs like $20 or something.

yeah, your CEL is definitely coming from that sensor. you've got to get that back in place. it's VERY important. i heard if you drive your car too much on rich you will crack your fuel tank or something... without the IAT your car is getting NO air/fuel ratio readings. believe me on this one i know because i have an automatic and autos are all driven by computers. since you all have 5-speeds, you really cannot tell if there's something mish mashed with the AF ration unless you get a CEL and detect it. on my auto, when i took the sensor out when i started the car the idle went all the way down and the car shut off until you restarted it. then my gears wouldn't know when to change... and the car would run rich and slow...

TC, I'm getting my new CAI in next week. If you want, I can send you my old AEM 2.5' half piping to you. i'm probably going to throw it out, but if you want it you can have it and paint it. it's got the hole for the AIT but the filter will hit the battery tray a little. PM me if interested.

it's the red aem, even got the carb sticker on it. note: you have to look hard to see it, IAT is connected to the AEM look right next to the orange engine oil handle.

Im pretty sure the CEL is coming from the 02 sensors though. But yeah if you're gonna get rid of that piping, I'll glady take it off your hands. How much do you want for it?

PLEASE tell us that you used a high heat flexible primer (one made for plastics). If you didnt use that, the paint wont last longer than a month, with regular driving.

nope, no primer. I wanted to keep the paint very thin. I drove the car today for about an hour straight, under high RPMs and it was hot outside. It still held up. Either way if it cracks Ive got some paint left, I'll just touch it up. Remember this isnt a permanent solution. Next Im gonna tackle the fluid resevoirs.

TC, i'll say about $10 shipped with grommets and barbs since the CAI cost $150, half of 150 is $75. Check out my filter, the back of your filter would pretty much be in the same position.

It's kind of scratched in places, just the better reason to paint it [silver]. If you want to, PM me for my address if interested and send the money like last time, maybe just an envelope or if you have a spare packet.

I really wouldn't mind it getting a good home smile.gif it's coming out next week when i get my new fenderguard in.
