So I need to get on here more but things just haven't been giving me time.

Yes Tak82 the fuel pump does act as a theft deterrent. Or the fact that you have to have 2 kill switches on and the auto tranny in the proper gear before you can start it even though it is a clutch.

So here is a race run down. 82 cars showed up. We breezed through tech with no issues. We also breezed through the BS inspection with no penalties and were placed in A class, although we were running all season tires.

They get all the cars on the track driving around the 2.10 mile course. Then randomly they drop the green and you go for it. After about 10 laps our head gasket popped and we were in and out of the pits. We messed with all the different cooling options except opening the motor. Finally we said hell with it and opened the motor just after 4pm Saturday. We swapped head gasket, timing belt, water pump and idler pulley in under 1.5 hours.

We were back on the track and cruising. At the end of day 1 we had completed something like 40 laps and were in 73 place. On Sunday we were cruising right away. Our little Honda could actually pass some of the higher power cars in the straights. But we lost in the corners due to our tire choice. After about 130 miles we melted the brakes to the point of no return.

We changed back to the used pads and rotors that came with the car and melted those with about 10 minutes left of the race.

All in all we finished 62 and had an amazing time.

If you guys want I can post some pictures of some of the other crazy cars. And there were a lot.

I am digging through 45 gigs of in car video that we recorded.

Ours is stripped to exactly 2,100 lbs with no driver and a full tank of gas. And after this race we learned how to cut even more weight. Our tire/brake choice was poor and showed in the corners. But I do have respect for the stock D16. It doesn't do to bad. No knocking, ticks, or other complaints in the entire race. After we fixed the overheating that is.
