My new Project Car
So I don't post a lot on here. I mainly just read stuff and buy parts. My '97 Tib is not currently running due to electrical problems I have yet to figure out.
So a friend of mine called me up and offered me a new project car.
https://www.hyundaiaftermarket.org/f...7735_thumb.jpg
It's a '93 civic with an auto trans. Was put into a ditch at high rate of speed and got pretty messed up.
The Bad:
Hood won't stay on
If you let go of the wheel you will be in the drivers ditch instantly
Alignment shot
Crazy wired fuel pump to a switch for some reason
217+k miles
Smashed windshield from the hood
No interior lights
Head lights point STRAIGHT DOWN
It has about 100 pounds of garbage. But I have found work boots, tools and new components buried in there.
The Good:
..um...It starts
It was free
And I am putting together a team to make it a Lemon 24 hour Race Car. If you don't know Lemons it's race where you buy and build a car (minus safety stuff) for $500 or less. Planning on racing it in June.
Ok now neg rep me for posting a Honda. Comments on what you think. Opinions? Thoughts? What you got?

my sister had a 95 in red, she went through head gaskets like candy. can't beat the price though. strip all the crap out of it and it should be fun though, minus the automatic. all the repairs look like its just work, you don't need lights for racing. good luck!

From the reading I've done online the head gaskets are the weak link with the D16. But buy a couple extra prior to race day and see how it goes. Car will have a full cage, racing seat and harness. Plus I will redo the brakes. With a starting weight of 2450 and a stock power of 123 I'm sure the car will be fun when it's stripped.
Come on, it is 24 hours of driving a car and not caring if it breaks.

Nice one, free car + no shits to give = the best skids.
1. Sort out that fuel pump so you don't catch fire when you roll it
2. Get a shift kit for the auto
3. Weld the diff
4. Mcdonalds tray drifts
5. Type R badges

Nothing wrong with a Civic. I run down NSX's and Porsche's out at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch with my '02 (not stock).

Chip the ECU and have fun.
They're awesome "throw away" or "I don't care what it looks like" cars that can have serious potential to rip a BMW or Mercedes punk a new ego.

Put a in it just for the haters.
Nice find though! Free cars are nice even if they are Hondas. I personally liked my CB7 Accord and basically planned to do the same thing, but got a good offer on her and had to sell.

So here are three pics of the car a little closer up. The tear down starts on Friday. I will try to keep this thread going as a blog of the build unless you guys don't want me to.
I only have $500 to fix the car. Money currently goes to suspension components. Would love to do an Auto to Manual swap but don't think we could get everything with our remaining cash. We need to put coolers on the trans and the brakes. Hood needs to be pinned on after we re-align the front of the car. Then we see what cash we have left.
List of work:
Clean out garbage
Strip interior
Strip engine
Swap Rear drums to calipers
Re-align frame
Bolt on hood
Add Roll Cage
Add 2 kill switches
Install racing seat (cloth)
Racing Harness
Fire extinguisher
Remove Glass
Just off the top of my head.
