<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (OzFxCoupe)</div><div class='quotemain'>???

Let's just say that if Schumacher's F1 car didn't have a rear-wing, he'd never win anything... & no offense Arctic but you're wrong about the terminology too...

Spoilers act like barriers to air flow, in order to build up higher air pressure in front of the spoiler. They produce downforce by creating a "dam" at the rear lip of the trunk. "Air dams" are also "spoilers" but are designed to stop the air flow from going under the car... "Wings" are the reverse of the wings you see on planes. If fitted correctly they generate more downforce than drag & can be very effective in reducing lift caused by low pressure over the ass-end of a car travelling at high speed.</div>

I know what my spoilers are from my wings. F1 racecar is not your typical car. The whole fact that it's shaped specifically for virtually little aerodynamic drag makes it in a totally different realm from normal cars. Normal cars, unfortunately, cut corners to meet demands...with so many compromises that make cars what they are...with the exception of the McLaren F1...which is possibly one of the only uncompromised production car I've seen yet.

The reason why I said that wings are totally useless is the fact that what a wing does is just creates downforce, at the compromise of drag. However, a better solution is the ground effects, by utilizing venturi tunnels and air diffusers to help maintain stability at high speeds, as well as create downforce without the negative consequence of drag. And it's been proven time and time again that this is possibly the most powerful way of creating necessary downforce...which is also why several competitions ban the use of ground effects...solely b/c it works too well, and it doesn't create the unnecessary drag.

But back to Mad-Machine's conceptual design, I think any influence from Pininfarina designed cars would be great....even if Pininfarina didn't aid in the design of our RD Tibs, but their influence on the GK Tibs makes it fair game. I highly doubt changes in the overall design of the Tib is going to be anything but subtle....I suppose for the average moron. wink1.gif

It's been about five months.. and with the recent addition of several photo's of my tib.. I thought I would post up another drawing. This is closer in, showing off the lights a little more and what I have planned to do with the RD2 position light.

As anybody who knows me well in real life, I am about a Libra as you can get. A consumate planner. I rarely do anything without thinking it so through I am sick to death of even pausing over it, but that is how I work. So, I bring you yet another sketch.

since you're customizing the headlights i think you should make a more "stacked" version of them, almost like the lotus elise.
i have always loved the elise, imo it actually mildly resembles the tib.

i do agree with the comment that a car's "personality" relies heavily on the front end (headlights/bumper).

i love what you have worked up for the front so far, i am not so sure about the rear .. not my style i guess, i like wings (thats what were calling them right? tongue.gif ) more.

what are your plans for sideskirts? i'd try turby or wings west personally.

headlights are actually Hella 90mm units. Two regular highbeams using their patened Free form reflector technology (with a city light) and the lows are Elipsoildal HIDs.. I am uncertain if I am going to go with standard lowbeams.. or to use their combination high and low.. (combination uses a movable sheild). As for the sidskirts, I have a set of King Sideskirts in my garage. The rear is also based on the King rear, the front is based on the older Z3 M coupe.

As for the rear spoiler, it is evolving. I do not like "wings" but instead I prefer a "ducktail" style. I am actually basing it on the newest Porsche by RUF. The rear centre brake light is the same as the Caddy Sevile.. I already have that piece. I also have the rear fog and the rear reversing light.

I still have to figure out exactly what I am doing with the taillights. I am uncertain if I am going to go for a Skyline GTR look, a Lotus Elise look, or the Fiat coupe. Time will tell, even if I am leaning towards the Elise.
