I was having a problem with getting my car to idle ever since I got it. I could usually get it to idle, I just had to hold it for a bit and slowly let off the throttle. I was going to hook up my wideband (AEM UEGO) to the haltech today but decided to first start the car and warm it up, maybe drive it around the block, etc. I could not even get it to idle. As soon as I let go of the gas it leans out and dies. When I am holding the pedal around 1000 rpm it starts out at an AF of 12 and grdually leans out until I give it more gas. I haven't done anything to the car other than swapping the valve cover with a beta2 cover but I drove it for about three hours afterwards and it worked fine. I had my wife hold the accelerator down while I checked the fuel pressure gauge and it was at 40 psi never went down. Oh and it has a full tank of 93. Can anyone give me some insight into what's going on?

Check your plugs and wires. Make sure everything is hooked up right. Make sure your lines are hooked up correctly, ie PCV and breather. It's possible you damaged your injector wiring when installing the new vavle cover. If you get a OBD reader it should be able to read some stored codes even with the engine off and give you some insight. I know it's pretty general stuff, but maybe it will help.

this is a shot in the dark, is it possible your sensors are giving your computer bad info and its trying to compensate for a rich condition that isnt there?

Dunno just a thought

An OBD II reader will not help me at all since I am running a Haltech E6X. I've checked the plugs and wires and they look good, all are secure, etc. As far as the sensor, I haven't even hooked up the wideband to the Haltech yet so it can't read it. I dunno what it is....

how does your vacuum look. if their is a vacuum leak itll lean out and sometimes die. i recently pinched a vacuum line and it cut open, and my car would idle really rough, ran like 10 in/hg vacuum and ran really lean.

i also just fixed a vac. line in my dads car, that caused his car to die when it idled..

i am suspecting a vacuum leak..

make sure the valve cover is on there tight.

is that the fuel pressure with the vacuum line on the FPR or off the FPR.. it should be ~42psi i think without the vac. line hooked up.

so your AEM is reading lean? does it show the ratio? or just LEAN.

if you need any more advice, hit me up at 5868643252. im around any time, and can try and help troubleshoot it with ya.

i dont think it would be the TPS, mine never really gave me idle problems, it would be more of a problem under accel.

I added fuel with the Haltech and got it to idle fine. Driving around is a little rough. There is no difference in the PVC for the Beta 1 and Beta 2 is there?

No difference between the PVC.

Has the weather changed alot where you live? colder, warmer etc. If adding fuel helped the idle your compensation maps need tunning.
What is your targeted air fuel ration on idle?

a ponitac in the lab was doing this the other day, and it was the TPS (loose wire). Test it w/ a fluke, should be .5v @ Idle. TPS always seems to be a good place to start for idle troubleshooting

check the hose between your airram and IAC? i know its silly..but the direction of the MAF? check all the simple things first.
sounds to me like a leak, but you're also boosted, so if it's something turbo-related, i won't be of much help.
