What causes more wear and tear on an engine, n20 or turbo?
I know that both can cause wear and tear and if you dont have the proper set up or do things right, you can cause issues with your car no matter what type of power adder you're using. But lets say both set ups are properly installed with the right fuel, ignition, tuning, etc. Over time, what would cause more wear and tear...nitrous or turbo?

It depends on how much boost you're doing. Since a Turbo is always on there's more chance of failure. Nitrous is used in short bursts and a proper nitrous controller can ensure that you only use it in a certain RPM range and only so often so as to give the engine time to cool down between shots. A turbo can be tuned as well.
From what I've seen you can get more out of a turbo for extended periods of time. Nitrous gives you superior bang-for-buck power.

nitrous is more brutal on an engine. it just dumps a shot of nitrous all at once on the motor and shocks it. atleats with a turbo you build boost and its gradual pressure increase unlike nitrous. then again if you use a progressive nitrous controller you should be ok.

Nah... That's like saying it's brutal to put the pedal to the floor. You could get the same shock with a spooled turbo. Nitrous increases oxygen levels and let's you burn more fuel. Its like adding an extra 1/3 to the gas pedal throw that is on or off. Improperly tuned nitrous can burn hotter, so can a improperly tuned turbo.
As for reliability, turbos add more moving parts and require tuning. If the turbo is down, the car is down. If the nitrous is down, then you don't use nitrous.

I can't stand to see this thread get bumped every other day....
No offense the the OP, but this question is illogical.
It doesnt matter if its a turbo, nitrous, jet engine, or chuck norris powering your wheels. The fact of the matter is all these can cause the same amount of wear and tear. It's not in the power adder but in the tuning. Unproperly tuned, no matter what you use will damage the motor in the same manor.
Properly tuned boosted or nitrous motors will last the same amount of abuse.

bump, it's been 2 days now.
Turbo will handle duration, but Nitrous is good for short bursts with a cool off period. If you use either properly, it will not cause noticable damage to your vehicle.
