Seems like a cool twin turboed beta, with air-to-air and water coolers!

Is there any logic for doing a twin turbo on 4 cyl? (less stress for the engine maybe?)

logic, there is none when you factor in cost. i think it was pretty much just someone saying "hey, look what i can do"

this would give less lag, and be capable of higher boost i think, but it's definately not worth it.

 

for 4 cylinders it's not worth.
I can think only about one positive thing - a bit smaller turbo lag, but exhaust gases will be diveded by 2 turbos, so efficiency should be lower then with one turbo.

 

Twin turbos are utterly pointless on 4 and 6 cylinder engines. The plumbing is a headache (I've spent hours trying to find boost leaks in RX-7s), there is more involved in tuning, and the really aren't that helpful. They were put there stock on Supras, RX-7s, etc. to increase low-end drivability. However any fast Supra, RX-7, etc. that you see will have been converted to a single turbo.

 

The only point of a twin turbo setup on a small block is to have 1 small turbo and 1 large turbo. This lets the small one spool up at lower rpm's, and is then bypassed by the bigger turbo which takes over at the upper rpm's.

 

Interesting idea but not very feasible on a 4cylinder.

 

 

The guy at dtm over here made a TT. i want one too. but i notice it was always in the shop. Hint... it would be nice to get but people want power. well what about balance. for every good there is a bad. correct.? :unsure:

 

Too much plumbing... all those vacuum lines, feed lines, piping, couplers, gah... drove me nuts. Makes finding problems hard, creates more possible problems, and reduces engine bay space to work on those problems.

 

Yeah I dont think it is practical but it sure looks sexy.
