Twinturbo On 4cyl??

Most of the faster spooling turbos are garbage for power though... T25s and what not. While the fast spool is nice, I despise the heat they produce and having to run it near maximum efficiency to get any power out of it.
I'll take a neck-snapping 4000RPM spool to 300whp then a lame 2000RPM spool anytime, especially when it takes almost 1.5x the PSI.

Mmmm....maybe for the Turbonetics. I've heard some problems people have with Turbonetic turbos...that's why I usually go for the Garretts. The ball bearing setups are excellent, and they provide some amazing spool-up.
And lame 2000RPM spool? Are you kidding? Why don't you go drive non-turbo'd autos if you want a neck-snap around 4000-5000RPMs. That good ol' automatic lag is great for what you want. rolleyes.gif

It is that 4000RPM spool time that keeps me from going turbo. I like a responsive car, one that I can put my foot into it at near any RPM and get power.. IF there is anything I despise it is a car that can be caught out of it's powerband. This also suits my driving style.. I am not in this for 1320 feet.. I am in this for mile after mile of sharply kinked turns on a road that follows a twisty river. Or a mountain pass, or even a nice cruise along the ocean.
And trust me, Turbocharger induced heat is why they make intercoolers. The GT28RS (disco potato) turbo is a NICE turbocharger. It spools FAST, it is super responsive at almost any speed, and it does not run out of breath before the engine does.
I know some people like the early spool time and less power to get a more responsive and fun car for windy places. Which is why superchargers are great. I'm more of a straight-line guy (although I do enjoy the occasional backroad) and if I do need to get on it, I can downshift and catch whatever was trying to get away from me pretty fast. lol.gif

Yes and no. For our pathetic Beta 2.0, we wouldn't really see much in power. But the fact that you could make power at such low RPMs is a good thing. But a large turbo that you wait around 4000+ RPMs is more for redneck drag racing. But on larger displacement 4-bangers, like the 2.4T in the SRT-4, those have very little turbo lag, while fitting on a large turbocharger. This of course, is due to the extra 20% of displacement that you get from a 2.4 vs a 2.0. And yes. 20% is enough to spool her at lower RPMs.
Getting a large turbo for a 2.0L is pointless, unless you wanna have a drag-only car, or jeopardize the safety of everyone else by racing on the highway. rolleyes.gif
In a way, it does come down to preference,...and stupidity.
lol.gif Of course I'm not putting any turbo like a T04E or something on a Beta. Especially with FWD. Ham would accidently hit boost if he ever hydroplaned or something and end up in a tree somewhere in the next county. lol.gif
My GSX is getting near the point of undrivability in bad weather conditions... and I'm not running a large turbo at all on it. I can't do any more performance work until I start modding the suspension/brakes a little more, I've kind of neglected them lately, even though it still brakes/handles 5 times better than stock.

that is why I ALWAYS emphasis that you need to make sure the car is prepared for the power you are about to run through it. I did that mistake myself and made a beast of a porsche powered Vdub Superbeetle. I learned a LOT about oversteer and fading brakes on that deathtrap. Thankfully the guy who had it after me did not get himself killed when he backed it into a tree at high speed.
I hate it when peple twin turbo a 4 banger, we have a twin turbo eclipse here, the kid is a jackass I knows alot about cars but hes just stupid, he likes to treat people (me) like were retards and that we dont know any thing about cars...
Sorry bout that, But yeah thats what I think about twin turboed 4's.
