EDIT: Just saw above post... Tim posted flow numbers somewhere, but they well outflowed any aftermarket turbo manifolds out right now (Maintec, SSA). He started TIG welding them now, so they are built very strong. I agree that if we had numbers he wanted to shoot for we could suggest a kit, but I don't see the Alpine being the better choice in 80% of the time.

Kind of hard to find dynos for Tibbies as there are really not many turbocharged ones pushing the full extent of kits. Its all theoretical based on what the kit is made of. If you take a look at the kit's makeup utilizing the T3/T04E and a good-sized intercooler, it can push more numbers than a Alpine kit could push.

Tibs are not often tuned for turbocharging right now. We bought a Hyundai, we wanted something sporty and cheap. tongue.gif If someone wanted to turbocharge a car, they would've bought something with more aftermarket support and thats cheaper to do so with (1G Eclipse, Miata, Honda) and responds well to it.

Guys..... I was the first GK in the world to have the SF kit.... It was a rough ride but the kit is awesome. I'm running 16psi right now with no problems, and little extras along the way (8.5:1 compression head spacer gasket is key)... I'd recommend his kit with a re-programmed ECU with injector size and compression specifications. Thats exactly what I have... with NO SAFC2 or wideband O2 sensor installed, and I'm running just fine. For those of you who doubt it, I'll be dynoing (finally) next week, and I'll post numbers & pics of course!

I'd recommend SF's kit because its well developed for the Beta I. For GK's it should be much more refined now than when I got it. I was a tester car, and got a good deal on the kit and plenty of help from Tim.

QUOTE (dmdicks)
The Alpine kit was not designed for looks.

No offence DM, but who said anything about looks?

QUOTE
It was designed strictly for performance. No bling, just zing.

Maybe you guys get a DIFFERENT kit than the RD guys do? Every Alpine I've seen has less ZING than a bottle of Octane booster. Well, I jest, it's not THAT crazy, but I was HIGHLY dissapointed. Considering David from Kspec.com paid about 300 more for his kit in Korea than the Alpine and was pushing 260 right out of the shop, they should be ashamed.

When and if I ever DO go Turbo, it will be with a Custom kit, with parts from tim, and some from Korea.

if your looking to just go buy a kit and throw it in instead of customizing one, i would opt for the sf one, he gives you alot of options to customize your own kit and he's a greay guy todo bussiness with.
I'm gonna be buying some stuff from him shortly.
