Steer clear of more aggressive cam profiles with a turbo engine.....mostly you will get a slight overlap between the exhaust valves closing & the inlet valves opening, which is O.K. on N/A. but leaks the boost on turbos!.
Cheers, Nick.

Yeah you got a point smile.gif Need to be a man about it smile.gif

OK the car motor is stock at the moment, we have the alpine turbo kit sitting in the garage, we also have on order SR cams, and pulley. I think the cams are going to be returned, because of the 268 duration, I think overlap is going to be a problem, although I talked to the gentalmen at crane and they said as long as the duration was the same on both intake and exhaust it should be fine. I have heard differently from elsewhere so more research needs to be done. I have talked also with crower, about the rods. I still need to call ROSS about the pistons. We will have to do alot of tuning, and will probably also need a MSD DIS-2. I just wasn't sure about where to locate rods and pistons specs or where they have them on file. Fuel delivery will also be upgraded. I am hoping for around the 300hp mark for now.

another quick question, you are talking 550 whp but how much can the sleeves on these motors handle. ALso what turbos can mount up the alpine mainfold, I heard the T25 will, will anything else?

Valk more agresive turbo cams will not give you an overlap so there will be no leak of the boost. Thats the whole point of cams specifically for a turbo aplication. They can be as aggresive as you want its just the duration that will give overlap. Which is why NA cams cannot be used.

I don't think you have to worry about sleeves. I don't think the Beta has one. But the block is sturdy enough for 600+hp

Eagle will not make you any unless you order 16 sets (yes, that is 64 total rods). Crower does have our rod on-file, but doesn't list them as a common part. You must pay the "special order" part price but they crank it out pretty fast because their forging/CNC/whatever equipment already has our rod specs.

ROSS racing also makes a set of forged pistons for the BETA motor as well.

Right now I'm trying to build up hyundai rep with eagle. I e-mailed eagle about the possibility of getting some 2.0l Beta II rods produced, and they said they were "Thinking about it". I started a thread over at NT trying to get some intrest, and a few more people e-mailed eagle. Maybe if they see enough intrest they will actually produce some. Anywyas, worth a try imho rolleyes.gif .

$350 eagle rods vs $700 pauter rods = eagle FTW!
