I doubt that hyundai will be coming out with a new engine so soon. Do you have any references to this or are you joking?

And i'm pretty sure vtech is a honda copyrighted thing.

Uh Uh man, VTEC is Honda-copywrighted. After it is changed to VTECH, it's another matter, and it suggests a court battle that Honda would lose.

Honda = Car and motorcycle manufacturer.
Hyundai = Landscaping, shipbuilding, construction, convenience store, automobile and electronics megacorp.

Guess the odds in this case are on whoever has the big money...which Hyundai clearly does.

Ya know, every year, someone says they heard a rumor hyundai is coming out with a turbo or a form of vtec for the tiburon.

Its been happening for 4 years now smile.gif

has it happen? nope

does hyundai have concept engines with vtec and turbos? YEP!!

they also have rwd and awd concept cars, ya dont see them either.

I would see vtec in the i4 and v6 before I see a turbo or a awd or rwd.

why? awd, rwd, turbo , are more costly to warranty.

some form of vtec I dont think would. and hyundai would probably call it

HIVEC = HyundaiInnovative Valve timing and lift electronic control
which is a spin off of

MIVEC = Mitusbishi Innovative Valve timing and lift electronic control

I know its in the v6 fto, adding about 20 hp, also in the lancer evo engine. I coudl see it on the I4 being the beta is similar to the lancer evo engine. so a form of vtec and turbo all in package smile.gif yum.

Actually Shadohh, the term I've heard tossed by Hyundai execs is VTC for their variable timing.

Just like the Nissan 3.5 VQ-series engine.

Yeah, I am sure the would come up with something else, If were them I would try to keep myself away from mitsu.

But HiVec is the logical choice, and probably would have been used if this was 1997 smile.gif

I would love to do a head swap and pull some nice n/a numbers.

You better not come to the bbq, or I am gonna beat it out of ya, so tongue.gif

hehe

umm, one thing I wanna add.

VTEC or any form is not always a good thing. Lok at an RSX TYPE-S, it does not make any real power till 6k rpms, and redlines at liek 8500rpmk

I remember being in one and drop the clutch at 4k, and it accelerated like a tiburon....

No wheel spin or even a chirp at 4k... sad.gif
Tiburon woudl smoke them white at 4k smile.gif

Shadohh, you just totally contradicted yourself.

Imagine if the RSX-S didn't have iVTEC. It would be as slow up high as it is down low. If the Beta engine was given a form of variable valve timing it's hp numbers would most likely jump by about 20hp or so, but the low-end power would still be the same.

I'm missing the disadvantage.
