Something as AEM twin fire CDI...

Denisst99 08-04-2008 10:25 PM

price is very similar
and, in the last month i've removed 2 aem twin fire because they have failed, i've replaced them with msd dis2 and dis4

So,you have worked also with AEM twinfire. fing02.gif
Can you explain how to connect SMT6 to MSD(or AEM),and how to command it?Is the SMT6 in total control of advance,or the original ECU can control it outside boost??

Denisst99 08-05-2008 11:59 PM

yeah i've learned to hate them if i can say...
the funny ppart is that it uses exactly the same connectors and pinouts MSD is using on their DIS4
so the replacement is plug and play ;-)

if you want to to get 100% control you have to intercept the coils signals with hte smt-6 feed them trough and ignitor then hook up the msd dis2 between the ignitor and coils

the smt-6 igniton drivers aren't "strong" enough to drive the MSD inputs
