Hey I have a question, I searched and found no results, so mods forgive me if this is a repost! But I have an auto Tranny in my Tib. I want to eventually run a turbo or supercharger on it. but im not sure if everything will work right or if any auto tranny can withstand a turbo. I am told that i can run a s.c at a decent boost on an Auto. Can someone help me with this? NO I will not convert to a manual, sorry but as much as I want to there are still other people that sometimes use the car and cant shift. So any advice or input would grealt ybe appreciated! Thanks!

this dude name tim, that use to run speedfactor use to have a turbo elantra wagon with an auto tranny. he was up to 16 pounds of boost, i believe and it ran fine with no slipping. this dude with a silver gk on this site has auto with 2 tranny coolers, and with hi boost i believe.

i think as long as u take care of ur auto tranny, it can take the punishment, but just not as well as a manual. Manuals are always better. You get more potential out of it.

you might also want to look into a level 10 tq. convertor.. and if you build up your transmission alot, you can run as much HP as you want, like the APE tib running hi ~10sec 1/4 mile

ummm.. ask your shop.. lol well a tourque convertor would be one of the first things.. you can upgrade your valve body, etc., etc... find a good transmission shop, or email APE.. i really have no idea i never would bother building up an autotragic transmission..

I've ran up to 12psi on a T28 on my auto. But now I have plans with my manual swap.

it can be done. like mentioned by socks there is a gk close to 10s with an auto. you have to take care of it though. torque converter would be one of the first things. even before that, get a tranny cooler, or two

I wouldn't let anyone drive my boosted vehicle especially if you are worried about the reliability of the transmission.

If you dont want a stick, just rebuild te auto. You can go pretty high boost with the auto but if I were you Id build it up.

It's just not cost effective though man..teach people how to drive a stick and do a 5spd swap.

Otherwise, if you're really against it, you'll need at least a tranny cooler, and possibly a torque converter.

Talk to cbehage, he was on here with his auto elantra running 12lbs was it (not sure exactly)? His setup was pretty nice.

I still think building up the automatic is a waste of time and money, because you could outperform it with the 5spd and it would cost soooooooo much less.

Building up the auto and turboing your car will cost you a good $6k. Or you could just do a manual swap for like 900 and then put on a nice turbo kit for like $3k.
