Hello everyone,

I have the Shark Racing cams and assume the duration is 268 degrees. I measured the lift and came out with 9.2mm, but that seems a little low doesn't it?

I was just wondering if anyone knows the lift and duration specs for sure, or if someone has a set not in their car they could measure and find out.

Oh and what do you guys would be a safe redline? I heard 7200 but was wondering what float would occur at with stock springs in good condition?

Thanks. smile.gif

Thanks guys,

Did they make more than one set?

Would my 268's have the same lift?

I remember measuring them with a micrometer but I could have been wrong and wanted to confirm.

264-268 will have less lift

measure the largest part of the lobe, measure the smallest part
then substract the small part for the large part and it will give you the lift

shark doesn't make anything, they just get part from other manufacturers...so they might had 2 different grinds of 268 also...

Ok, that is what I did and I came up with 9.2mm when I converted it from inches to mm.

That just means it is safer to rev higher with less chance of hitting the valves if it floats. And more freedom with cam timing tuning.

What is the highest engine speed I could get to with stock springs (71k on them) without valve float? 7250?

Thanks so much for your help denisst.

i'd say about 7200
a few glipse up to 7500 could be done but past that i'm sure you will jack up a lifter

Cool,

Thanks for the info.

What can the bottom end take if I upgrade the springs?

Guess the best way to rev high with no worries is to swap a beta II head and use the solid lifters huh?

Heck, why not just swap to an entire beta II engine?
