Hello everyone,

I just bought a turbo today.

It was supposedly a t/3 t/4 turbonetics.

But when I got home and started researching, the turbine side is definately a T4 (there is a 3" outlet and the outlet flange is without a doubt a turbonetics t4). The A/R on the turbine is .58 and it is 'stage 5'.

The compressor is a 57 trim, I'm guessing .63 a/r but am not sure. There is a 3" inlet.

Is this too big for my 2.0L rd with an airram, 65mm tb, 268 cams and headwork?

It doesnt make any sense to put a t4 turbine housing on a t3 compressor unless you have a large engine trying to run low boost right? Supposedly it was on an IS300 6 cyl. and flows a maximum of 500 crank hp. There is minimal run time on this and shaft play is less than .5mm.

I will post up some pics if I can.

If anyone could let me know if this will work on the tib at 20-25 lbs. that would be great. And when it might spool, it is not ball bearing.

Thanks.

do you have a flow chart for the turbo?

dunno if this will help or not but assuming you have the 2.0L engine if you want to run 25psi you're going to need a turbo that produces between 530 and 575 cfm or 43 and 46 lb/min (6500rpm)

These are just rough estimates*

if you can find a compressor map for that turbo plug those in with PR=2.7 that will give you your efficiency at max boost at redline

theres a good chunk of people on here using t3/t4 turbos, so its no where near overkill. i have a t3/t4 50 trim turbo on my car, and it spools pretty well, not sure on the ~rpm though.

for that high of boost that you are wanting to push, that turbo should work really good.

if you were looking to push like 12-16lbs of boost, you may want a smaller t3/t4 because it would spool faster.

that A/R on the turbine is a lil bigger than normal i believe, i think mine is a .48.

if those are the compressor specs, it looks like it should be flowing arounf 50lb/min with a lil more top end than a regular t3/t4 57trim.

.63 A/R is standard for the three four's. .48 is the smaller option, and .82 being the other bigger option.

Hello guys,

Thanks for the responses firstly.

Cypher, that is not my turbo, I have a turbonetics, not a garrett. Although the compressor housing is similar.

I believe i have a straight t4 turbo, I can't find any turbonetics t3/t4's with the specs of this turbo.

You guys are right about the lb/min flow rates, I think it is somewhere in the 45-50 range.

Would the cams and headwork that I have increase my flow capability?

At 20 psi, when would this monster spool? 4000? What about 25psi? It shouldn't change right?

Thanks.

Here are the pics as promised:

I was told this is virtually a brand new turbo, there is about .5mm of shaft play, but since it is non-ball bearing I was told there has to be oil around the shaft to reduce that. That isn't excessive is it?

Any thoughts?

Thanks guys.

Bump for some info.

Thanks!

It is a TO4B with an Off Center T4 Turbine HSG.
