casper. .in some case it's a good thing..
remember he's swapping it in a little accent....
it's much easier to solve problems with a basicly "stock" car...
get it running nice and fine has is... solve out the little bugs wirings, mounts then play with it...
if you build a billion dollars set up put it in the car and get several little problems, that is annoying and hard to find not everyone has all the required skill ,and even guys used to it will sometimes stumble into a little problem aggravated but too many possibilities
depends on what he wants to do with it,
if the other guy was speaking about maing running a "core" engine then yes. .it's ridiculous... no point to see if the engine runs okay if it's to tear it appart ;-)

why you dont buy some light piston and rod take your crankshaft your new rod and piston and a new lightweight flywheel a underdrive pulley some arp stud for your rod and make them balance toogeder , when a engine is properlie balance , there is no probleme too make them rev hight

I just can't understand what your trying to do, why would you buy a 2.0 beta and go through all the trouble to turn it into a 1.8 beta, it just makes no sense to me, why don't you just buy 1.8 and do a buildup on that motor. If you go through all the trouble to put a 1.8 crank in a 2.0 block and get some custom rods made and use 1.8 pistons you are gonna end up with the same displacement as 1.8 beta that you can buy at the junkyard for $200, it just makes no sense at all. The block are the same but the 2.0 has a higher deck height so it will be no stronger than the 1.8 block.

Just so you know the biggest problem with getting the beta to rev 9,000 and still make power is not the shortblock but the cylinder head itself, you can do all the porting and pollishing you want but the beta stock head just will not flow enough air to make power at that rpm, that is unless you run a huge turbo and force the air in at extreme pressures even then the beta head flows like crap.
