So what would be the cheapest piston and rod set up out there?

I like the stock bore (82mm) stock compression piston that he was talking about.

But there has to be limits on boost. Meaning boosting at 10.1 compression that's kinda high to be raising boost. But sure I could make 300+ easy with a good piston and rod set up

Has anyone used them? What would be a safe psi on those?

psi is relative and generic

20 psi on a t28 isnt the same as 20psi on a t4

of all the places to look to cheap out, the internals of the motor arent the way to go

The cheapest pistons are the ones you already have. They are good to 300-ish horsepower. Unless you are familiar with super-high power in a FWD car, I'd say shoot for 270-320HP on stock internals and see if it's still fun (to you) to drive.

Stocker sounds like a good plan. Thanks for the advice doesn't sound to bad for my first turbo build I guess. And I will be running a t4.

Do you think there's anyone that can guide me in the right path. Tuning wise?

Yes base map but trying to take it up to 275hp range?

Spend a couple of *months* reading threads here. Read Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. Then read some more here, THEN start asking the few, good questions you don't already have answers for by then.

Do a simple turbo kit first, then see if you want to tackle the internals afterwards. Doing both is way too much for a beginner. You'll end up with too much work and too many headaches in a row, get discouraged, then scrap the project. Happens all the time.
