I'd ask David if he has some Hi-compression pistons, if you are redoing your engine, it's the time to trow them in. Maybe they are not too expensive, if the cast Tigerlily Turbo pistons are at a very reasonable price, the hi-comp could be also.
As for cams, don't go to wild or you will miss your torque, the one from the 1.8 is just fine.
Another very interesting mod after Intake (AirRam) Header (Maintec GB) Exhaust could be the pre-tuned ECU from Real Engineering. Might be worth the try.

Well; as far as I know, yes and no. They aren't a bolt on swap, you could try to find a new wiring harness; it would be expensive but if he was willing to pay for a V6 swap... And I'm assuming he already has the MAP sensor as he was turbocharged, maybe I'm wrong.

 

well it's oficial my motor is F***ED... got a rod knockin... number 4 cylinder... blown head gasket... warped camshaft and possibly more... that's all that i've been able to tell without pulling the motor apart... i've got a new head that i bought i probably won't be needing it... that'll be for sale for 150.00 plus shiping(it's got 15,000 miles)

i'm lookin for a new motor either stock or something i can do a swap for... so once agian the swap idea is open.... i can get a newish motor for the car (stock) for about 400 (2001 beta1 with 13,000)

oh yeah turbokit is sold to a_gut once i recieve payment it'll be shipped out.

i need some input guys.... would love to get a stock motor with about 200hp already... sr20det(probably not very feasible) 205hp... 4g63t(not very feasible) 195hp... delata 2.7l v6 171hp? (probably not very feasible). Wish this was like honda... swap motors like changin draws....

well i've sourced up a new beta motor... it's from a 2000 elantra has 13,000 miles the place wanted 750 for it but i'm getting it at 500... i've also got a spare head with 15,000 miles on it... dunno what i should do with it... anyone want it? 150bucks.... now this thread can be moved into the engine and transmission forums... thanx guys appreciate the help.

 

Wow I can't believe you killed your motor that fast! I have had my motor turboed for like 30000kms and it still runs like new!! How much boost were you running?

 

I say bad tuning killed your engine! there is no way your engine went bad with only 3k mi on it with turbo! you should have gotten new rods low comp pistons and build your motor and turbocharge the hell out of it with good tuning!!!!

 

lol yeah i was boosting just under 8 psi... 0.5 bars to be exact... i think it had to do with low oil... my car had been sitting for about a month... and i neglected to check the oil when i got her running again... i think it was my fault... also looks like i had a bad thermostat too... so my engine went and overheated...

i also think i mighta turboed a motor that shoulda been rebuilt i was pretty tough on her even before i installed the turbo... but now i gota newer motor 13,000 miles and i'ma go for show now... anyways the speed limits only 70mph... lol
