i just got my header leak fixed... and all of a sudden my car isnt running 11.8 rich, its runnin 13.5 at WOT. I had to add +25% fuel on my SAFC2 in order to bring it down to 12.0. I am using airbornes ecu, but I had a major header leak in the past and i was running rich. The car pulls hard, so im assuming the timing was being pulled back because of the previous leak?

Could this be a result of the sealed header leak? I ran a code check and everything is fine, I even replaced my primary 02, spark plug, spark plug wires, and it still runs the same. It just all happened when the header leak was sealed (atleast when I noticed it).

i really wouldnt say 13.5 is lean, i run 14.0 to 13.9 at WOT.

for a N/A car, 14.0 is great

if it was a turbo engine, i would say no more than 13.3 or 13.4 to be safe !!!

with out the SAFC2 on i run like a 12.

but with about -24 correction evenly thruout the RPM range, its a steady, 13.8 to 14.0

i think you should be ok with that !!
have you dynoed yet with with a 13.5

what i dont get is you are adding 25 ????? i am taking away 24 and run a 14.0

at zero correction im pig rich at 12.0

^^ He's running more power than you, hence he has to add more fuel obviously. He's also running larger injectors (440cc).

If you had a large leak I can see why it might throw the A/F off.

13.5:1 isn't OMGLeanDeadMotor bad, I'd try to knock it down to 12.5:1.

Did you have to use the SAFC-2 before, or was Airborne's ECU running 11.8:1 on its own?

I just threw a check engine light now. I went to advance auto and its not showing a code coming up at all.
I added +25% fuel but it doesnt bring the a/f ratio down by much. The car fights what I say in order to keep it at 13.5. I can tune the low settings therefor I know its not in a limp mode, any ideas? Fordfaster told me its ok if im in boost at 13.5 as long as im not pinging. However me adding this much fuel to bring the a/f ratio down is making my car bog bad.

oh so you have the flashed airborne ECU !!!!

so why do you have to add fuel to try and lean it out ??

^^ Eh? He's adding fuel to richen it? lol

I guess the CEL doesn't show up cause you have that modified ECU. And I guess the Hyundai ECU still screws with the S-AFC, even yours. Reset the battery?

Dunno what to tell ya man. Maybe poke a hole in your header so it runs like before? lmao.gif

He is adding fuel to bring down the ratio from 13.5:1 (lean) to something like 12.5:1 (richer). However, the ECU isn't letting him, as he adds fuel, the ecu leans out the mixture on its own and fights with the S-AFC. Thats the common problem and why we don't recommend the S-AFC.

What are your Long Term and Short Term fuel trims like? I've heard that if those get out of whack with the S-AFC the ECU will mess with the fuel more than it normally would.
