Default Internals to run 15-20lbs boost?

I know for sure that the pistons will need to be changed but what about rods? Arnt they good till about 300 whp? I would like to push anywhere between 300-350 at the crank so i think im good? Also from what i have been told my turbo wont spool till about 4g's (holset bc1 off a cummings desil) I would like to possibley raise the max rpm's of the motor. What would be required to do so? Isnt it mostly top end that would fail?

if ur gonna be in ur engine to put in new pistons u might as well throw in a new set of rods... after all u dont wanna break a rod and kill ur engine... think of it as a 600 dollar insurance policy

so pistons and rods would be good are any other internals needed to be used. Also what about turning higher rpm's I know the betas have long stroke so super highs are out of the question but what about say 8-8.5? what would be required to do that? Also what would be good pistons to run for 15lbs daily drive and 20lbs for short bursts around 15 sec. Where could i get these? also where could i get the rods? Also i plan on building a motor on the stand after i build my turbo kit up one part at a time thing.

Forged 8.5:1 pistons and forged rods. Wiesco pistons(if you don't want to overbore), Ross pistons(overbore)and Crower rods. The reason I mention these specific products is they already have the units either in their CAD computer or in stock. They also were willing to develop products for the Hyundais.

For 300- 350 CRANK hp, you could probably get away with forged pistons from HKS (fits stock rods) and use either the stock rods as they are or shot peening stock rods.

The above mention products are perfect for 15 psi daily use and 20+ on race fuel.

No way you are going to get the engine reving past 7250 rpms without SERIOUS mods and $$$$$ 5 digits worth.

The folks in Korea don't use the 1.6L or 1.8L BETA motors due to how taxes work in that country.

Red,
We actually have the 1.8 Beta... no 1.6 Beta.
There are some rare 1.8 turbo conversions but almost all have been swapped for a 2.0 before being turboed.

I knew you had it, but I suppose I should have elaborated more. From a performance standpoint, they all end up going 2.0L anyway But I guess Cheuk made that clearer than I did originally, so...

I guess I'll shut up smile.gif

Quick question,

I got the UFB cast pistons from S. Africa with the compression ratio of 8.0:1

I also happen to get the pauter forged rods at the same time.

Now would this setup be able to run 15psi reliably?
