from what i understand the most cost effective alternatie is having your stock IM P&Ped for better flow. there was also somethin about upgrading to mustang TB's too.

Yeah i know but i think the air ram was so cheap because it was molded that is why it does not have welds and stuff. They also sold it to manny people so that is why they could lower the production costs.

SOCKS you are absolutly right 1k is just too much. But like i said do you know alternative's ? You already have a air ram. I cant buy one because evry time someone is selling one the americans will see it first because i am sleeping when its daytime there.

well i think there is one for sale right now. duno if dibs have been called yet..

but you could buy the pieces needed for an intake manifold from that site that was posted in the engine/transmission forum, and pay someone to weld it all up for you. it would be a straight runner style to keep costs down, but even if you had to pay a welder 150, it would still be under 700$ for a completely custom manifold that you could put ANY throttle body on it you wanted.

Ye, custom is the way to go... I'm surprised I haven't seen more people go that route.

Tib owners seem to be notoriously picky and don't want to use a little ingenuity and do something custom... with a few exceptions.

but those welds are pretty ugly... coulda taken more time, and done better welds even though the inside may be nice. i mean come on its 1000$

Word, those are really ugly welds, and you are damned right, for that price, it better look like it is platinum plated.

WTF was that about Airrams being molded?

I think he means the fact that the Air-Ram is two pieces connected together... Most of the Plenum and the connection to the TB are one piece, and the Runners and a little bit of the plenum are another.

But they aren't molded.

I'd love to pop off the top half of my airram and put a supercharger on it.

LOL

Everyone keeps saying RPW and other sites have them, I've looked and have seen NONE.

I've been told that they make only upon demand, I reckon they would also charge around 700 US for a manifold.

Might give them a ring and find out how much it would be to make something like the Airram.

Yup. Sorry i am from holland you see and i dont know all the words so sometimes i use the wrong words in a sentence.

@hamhead, The air ram looks realy good. And because manny people have it and know its good thats why people dont realy want to spend monney on things they dont know much about. Maybe they create a IM thats much better then the air ram but if its even worse that the OEM IM then its all lost money and people dont want that. If i buy a air ram i know it will fit. If i go custom and let someone weld it for me who know's what i will get.

I am still a bit of a noob in the tuning world and still have not go further then lightweight pulley's a other exhausth pipe and spark plug wires and stuff. So i am just trying to find out what to buy and what not to buy. I dont want to spend like 10k on my engine and only get a 10 BHP gain. (i know thats a low number)

I am bringing this back up because I am starting to plan out my intake manifold design. I am turbo so how important is it to have the velocity stacks and the design where it gets smaller away from the throttle body? Designing it smaller isnt going to be hard at all but Im more wondering about the velocity stacks and how big of a difference they would make around higher boost (16psi+)

This is Magnus Motorsports manifold. It is probably the most popular one for DSM's.

They use both the tapered plenum and the velocity stacks.
