^^^

the fmu, especially with a 12:1 ratio doesn't provide an easy or gentle transition of the fuel delivery, that why you get that sudden "wall".

were you really running rich or lean during the wall? you never mentioned if you had a wideband

I do not have a wideband, but will in a few days. A friend has one that i get to borrow for a few months; not great, but better than nothing. But yea, unfortunately I cant answer your question sad.gif

Hopefully if all goes well Ill be able to do what alex did and just not need the fmu for 5 lbs. I would like to get it figured out tho so that I can run 6-7 daily and maybe even 8psi on race gas at the track. obviously Id use the wideband to see if that was possible. but anywho, as of now Im just stumped.

if im running super rich or very lean with that fmu, how would I change that?? if it was rich maybe get a 10:1 disc instead of a 12:1?? dont know if that would make a difference. and if lean then i have no idea

See.. that's the thing, you don't know what ratio of fmu that is compatible to your psi goal. It doesn't mean that a fmu with a ratio of 12:1 worked on a honda civic @ 10 psi would work on your setup with 10 psi. Plus, you can't tell right now that your are running lean or rich once your fmu kicks in because you don't have a wideband or an egt.

This is when a wideband and an adjustable fmu (like cartech, etc) combo works best. You can dial in the right ratio that you need to run the right afr (11.8 is the best, but that's just me) under boost. Also with this combo, you can play around other sizes (flow) of injector that you have.

I stayed another night before going to my parents so that I could try relocating the maf sensor.... and well, now I really dont know what to think... I moved it a good, oh 15" or more from the turbo inlet, and it actually ran worse. There may have been something messed up that we missed, but everything looked in order. heres what it did:

car started pullin pretty decent, and then out of nowhere the boost dropped all the way down and in some cases even read vaccum! (i wasnt wot then) I could not figure it out for the life of me, nothing on the charge pipe side was changed and none of the vac lines were moved. Just to make sure it wasnt coincidence we put the maf back where we had it originally, and the problem was no longer there.... WTF!?! my car has to be the most picky thing in the world.... ugh.

now i dont know what to do...

usually when a car is doing unexplainable weird stuff I'd look for a vacuum leak.

/\ I dont know if its a boost leak, because i had a big big boost leak (tb coupler not tight at all) and the throttle response was just terrible, and then drove ok above 3k. so i dunno if its a boost leak, could be.

OK tibminn this is what you have to do

Get a digital camera, preferrably with video

take pictures of your set up so we can actually see whats going on and maybe you have something messed, we dont know because we cant see

Next, take a video of your car reacting the way you say it does.

then post them up, and we'll go from there

haha yea I checked that like 3 times.

supercow- I checked for vac leaks, I believe theres a little one where I put a bolt in the end of a line to plug it off (the one that used to go to the fmu) but nothing drastic

And alex- I can do that, but we just got dumped on with snow up here so it might be awhile.

I was planning on running more than 5psi, and i dont want to push the car on an almost stock fuel system above that, so im thinkin about saying screw the fmu and everyhting else and saving up to buy the ecu that airborne is offering. If my problem is related to my maf sensor, which it would seem, that ecu should solve it, and give my car an almost perfect tune as well. only problem is, I dont have the money for it.... Im workin on it tho, and if i get it and STILL have problems.... well then i might just have to kill someone!!! haha

does anyone think that it is NOT maf or ecu related? cuz seriously if i spend the money on this ecu and my car isnt fixed.... yea. no bueno. but as far as i can tell, it would solve it
