well once u unhooked the vacuum line from the FMU its like its not there, and i knew that the wall was from the FMU, but im unsure of why your leaning out past 3, ive been running 5 psi absolutely stock with GREAT pull, and ive accidentally had it up to 7 and it seemed like that was when the stock fuel was starting to run lean. Could be the MAF giving u an incorrect air reading, also did u try out the fuel pump before you turboed like i said to make sure it worked fine?

sure did, ran perfect. I just dont get how yours can run perfect with no fuel management and mine cant... somethin is definately different...
I dont think theres any problem with heat effecting the maf... the fan is right infront of it, moving most hot air away, and most importantly, my filter is in the fenderwell and is sucking in the cold mn night air. after driving around for awhile, the maf was almost cold to the touch. well i wouldnt say cold, but definately no where close to hot.
if it IS the maf sensor, im thinking its from turbulent air being too close to the inlet. I remember how many problems people had simply from removing the "air straightener" screen on the maf, this could cause a similar effect. my question is wouldnt it throw a CEL?

I don't think so, when random had his grandiose idea years ago to trim the maf screen the car just ran like crap, I don't think he had a CEL...(if I remember that post correctly)
Anyway, I'm still going to say move the MAF and recirculate.
Think about it, if the maf isn't reading correctly, that could be what is causing the lean-ness.
Anyway, I really like that setup, its neat. Next time I'm in MN we'll have to go for a cruise wink1.gif how far is Loretto from St Paul?

Ok. You need to recirculate your BOV if your using the 1g dsm one. A buddy of mine actually today, we unhooked the circulation tube just to hear the BOV roar, and the BOV did get louder but DAMN did the car run like shit. We hooked it back up afterwards. Trust me and recirculate it with that bov.
Also please move the MAF away from the turbo. Yes your fans are right infront of there but you do know all they do is move air? They do not "cool" the air inside your pipes. I bet your sensor will fry soon wink1.gif, so I suggest you try moving it.

i didnt mean the fan cooled it... haha im not retarded! im just sayin heat doesnt sit around it. its the cold outside air that keeps it pretty cool. in summer that may be different of course...
and zoned, loretto is about 20 miles west of minneapolis. Im in mankato for school tho, so it would depend on time of year wink1.gif
any more suggestions guys? Im pretty much open to anything at this point sad.gif

MOVE THAT MAF! Your main problem is that after awhile your MAF gets WAYYY too hot and cannot correctly read airflow anymore .. move it as far as you can away from the turbo (12-15" at LEAST)
Also I would recirculate the BOV..dump it between the MAF and the the inlet (if you want the cool woosh do what jay suggets and get a dual chamber)

We've taught you well. tongue.gif
Do what he says. I'd move it even further than 15" though. The MAF may very well be your entire problem. It controls fueling. If it reads tons of hot air (even though it isn't) its going to lean out your mixture cause it doesn't need as much fuel (so it thinks).

what he said ^^ haha sorry
got an update as well:
recirculated the bov today, and all the bogging etc is completely gone. makes sense since we all had pinned that as the problem in the first place. I did not get a chance to move the maf, and probably wont for a few days at least. The sensor does not really get hot, but I do think it is getting a bad reading, be it from temperature, turbulent air, or whatever.
Heres the new thing I find weird...
If I am driving, i can 3/4 throttle it and it drives fine and pulls pretty hard, but IF i go WOT, it will seem to go lean and just loses power bad. this ONLY happens at WOT. If its 3/4 throttle and 5 psi its fine, but WOT at 5 will make it messed up. kinda weird if you ask me...
If the problems are al from the maf, it will be moved eventually, but I need my car up at my parents for a few days so it is going to stay like this for a little while. Im hoping the maf does not "fry" but if it does, what will happen? will the car be driveable etc? all speculatrions/comments/concerns are again welcome, and thanks again guys
EDIT- one last thing. does anyone have a clue why the fmu would make the car have that "hitting a wall" feeling? It seriously makes no sense at all...
