Well, I decided to get a decompression plate/head gasket. I found it for $300 on SharkRacing.com. Is there one any cheaper anywhere? And when I put this one on, how much should I torque the head bolts down to?

Edit - And wheres a good place to get a 1/8 NPT oil feed and a 5/8 NPT oil return line? I can't find anyplace that sells them except for eBay.

Thanks

webtech should have the head torque.

Return line is relatively easy to make with some AN fittings and braided line. Premade feed lines i havent been able to find.

Thats about as cheap as the decomp plates come but SR isnt really quick on shipping, but if you dont plan on turboing until 2008 then theyre great! wink1.gif

Kspec is much faster, and you only pay 299 shipped hehe

KSPEC decomp plate

Thanks Alex. I guess I'll go with KSPEC then. Lol. I'm just collecting the parts right now.

EDIT - I was just thinking, with the 3mm gasket I guess I will have to advance the timing. Does anyone make a smaller diameter pulley for the timing belt so I dont have to advance it any?

you would find that answer in a search. with mine, i stretched the shit out of the belt and got it to fit fine. was not easy at all but i got it on. otherwise you have to search and find a belt two teeth bigger. and if you do, let me know. i went all over looking at different belts and never found one that worked

Ok, well I checked the computer where I work and it says to torque them down to 26 ft lbs + 60* + 60*. What does the 60* mean? And I read that the Alpine turbo kit comes with a smaller diameter pulley to fix the timing problem. Is there any place that sells the pulley separately? Does alpine have their own website? I googled it but I couldn't find anything.

It mean 60-65 degrees. And there are 2 different tq specs.

The 8mm's are 22lbs +60+60. The 10mm's are 26lbs+60+60.

Do the 22/26lbs first in the right bolt pattern sequence. Then go back and do 60 degrees through all of them *in the right sequence*. Then go back and do it 60 degrees again..........and you're done.

This is for stock bolts. ARP bolts have different tq specs. You might want to invest in them cause they don't cost that much. See the sticky thread.

Put wrench on bolt.
Turn wrench 60 degrees.
Take wrench off bolt.
Put wrench on next bolt in sequence.
Turn wrench 60 degrees.
Take wrench off bolt.
Put wrench on next bolt in sequence.
Turn wrench 60 degrees.
Take wrench off bolt.

Repeat.

It is true that you have to check the torque after a while?
