Default front exit exhaust?

just wondering how many people here have seen these setups? and also does anyone have one on a tib? anyone like them?

\

i did that on mine, comes straight out of the turbo, turns down, then over and out the front bumper. i'll post pics in a day or so, still not 100% on the hole coming out the bumper..... gotta clean it up.

here's what i'm talking about though -

iirc something like 95% of all states require the exhaust to dump after the cabin

so pretty much after the back tire

The statutes usually read they have to dump after any entry into the passenger compartment(exhaust must exit behind the farthest back window or door opening by 2-6" depending on state). So just in front of the rear tire is usually acceptable (vipers with side pipes/mufflers and similar cars)

That being said, I doubt the turbo and other mods will be legal, so who really cares. But that front exit exhaust will be a red flag to any law enforcement ossifers. If they see that(front mount exhaust), they know you've got other illegal mods.

I've seen pics from Korea on quite a few cars doing this setup on a Tib. Haven't seen it in the states.

To Random's point, I wonder if Texas LEOs are as strict on cars as California is, and if you're required to pass annual vehicle inspection, smog tests, etc.

i have a secondary downpipe made that bolts to the factory exhaust system. if i want to be inconspicuous i have 7 bolts to undo. if i want to go "full out race", 7 bolts. in the future i'll go with an electric cutout so that i don't have to do anything but push a button. i love the sound though and the response of it is unreal

In Texas you can call DPS anonymously and ask if something is legal.

once again not for street use obviously....

and thanks for that tip stocker, do you know if that'll work to find out if you'll pass inspection with certain modifications on your car? like call them and ask if your car will pass with said modification on it? thanks again

Worst case is they tell you you'll fail. Why not call? Phrase everything as hypothetical. Check their website first, IIRC they have an FAQ section up somewhere.
