well, instead of dealing with stupid usb adapters, having to have the laptop in the car and charged up, i think eventually i am going to go the route of the profec e-01. has anyone ever used this in a car, doesnt have to be a tib, at all.

you can pretty much do everything that you can plugged into the laptop, plus have a SD card to look at all the data on the computer. and i can use it as a electronic boost controller with a display of different gauges, and actual rpms, speed, TPS, injector duration, in real time, without having my big ole laptop sitting in the passenger seat..

i can control the following using the profec: ignition maps, injector maps, air flow maps, boost limiter cut, wideband input, so i can log it, to look at it for tuning. i can view everything in realtime, and log it right to the SD card.

heres some of the menus.

its only 350$ shipped

here are some other pics of the profec e-01

too big pic lol

i was just wondering about peoples experiences with this, if any, or if anyone would suggest it. for any boosted guys, i would think this would be a GREAT option, so the laptop doesnt have to be in the car to monitor anything, you can just look at the backlit screen and see everything.

What's the point in switching if you only really need to use it for tuning? Seems like it wouldn't be that big a deal to have the laptop in the car to tune and then take it out. It doesn't seem like you have any shortage of guages either...

well, even though i have maps loaded, its really convenient to be able to look at anything in realtime whenever i want to, instead of having to wrestle with my laptop, and hope it connects using the USB adapter, also, my boost controller right now isnt hooked up right, so its not working, and electronic boost controllers PWN.

i have a dell laptop, so thats about my biggest problem, my battery was toast, and to get the laptop working in the car the right way, i need to get a new laptop battery, and get a better USB adapter, and then hope my computer doesn't eat up the new battery like it did the old one. i have had so maney problems with drivers for the USB connectors, the computer connecting to the emanage, and the laptop dying, its just a HUGE headache..
