Hi everybody, I copy this from my introduction to have replies in the right forum.

I want to boost my motor, but I hesitate. I don't know if I should turbo it. Some members have told me that I should buy a lot of parts. But I talked with Jay of Seoulfulracing, who said me that only his turbo kit with a clutch kit is enough. I want to know if with a turbo I should reinforce some parts of the car (like put coilover, rollcage etc)

So to help you, I should firstly give you the list of my modifications:
18" rims
Eibach springs
Front strut bar
CAI
Magnecor cables
Motoria Cat back

And also that's all for the moment.
So I hesitate between N/A and turbo.

For N/A, I should buy:
Header
Intake
Throttle body
Pulleys
Adjustable cam sprocket
Clutch kit
Big brake kit
and a new ECU

For Turbo:
SFR stage 1 turbo kit
Clutch set
Big brake kit
and... what else?

My goal is about 250whp and safe

So let me know your experiences please...

N/A will top out at 200hp, turbo is much higher that that. If you spend a certain amount on N/A mods to get to 200, you can spend about that to get a mild turbo to get even higher numbers. A turbo will give you many more headaches, and you really have to keep up with it, but the boost is irresistible. wink1.gif
Extra support for your car (rollcage, reinforced engine bay, etc) isn't really necessary unless you get toward the top end and turn it more into a drag car. Yes, you'll have to get more parts for a turbo build, and in the long run it may be more expensive (lower fuel mileage, replacing some parts, tuning, etc) but you only live once...
There's a book on turbos that you should get and read, before making up your mind, and definitely before starting. I forget the name of it right now, someone will mention it...
Do a bit of reading on the site, there's 'grocery lists' on what you'll need, and endless pages of advice, comparisons, problems, and of course, successes with turbos.

Either way you go on it, we'll back you up all the way!

Thank you for your reply.

How much hp do you think the N/A that i'm looking for can give me? Not 200hp, I think about 170hp no?

with those n/a mods, you might make 150whp, on a good day. There are a lot of mods here that you can research about getting parts from the 1.8l beta engine that will save $$ and give you the only affordable cam, and ecu mods around. if anything, 18" rims will slow you down. Get a set of 17"s that way your speedo can stay accurate, it'll have to get recalibrated for 18"s. If you're going to buy eibach springs, also get the matching struts to complete the ride feel, they're well worth it.

No, the first list, is what I already have.
I don't understand all powers that exist... lol In france, the 2L is 143hp and V6 167hp so what is the conversion in whp? If I can have 170~180 french hp I'll be glad.
Put a turbo is hard in your opinions? The SFR one is not good? What do I need with it? Clutch kit, big brake kit, gauge.
I speak about this kit:

Thank for your replies, I understand quickly, but you should explain me several times.. lol

Manufacturers measure by crank hp, how much hp gets to the crankshaft. Tuners measure by wheel hp, how much hp gets to the wheels. Power is lost before it gets to the wheels from the crankshaft through the drivetrain. Stock Tibbies dyno ~100-105whp. Fully modified N/A dyno ~155whp max. Turbos, even small setups like mine dyno around ~180-200whp.

An increase of 40 crank HP (143hp to 180hp, french) is possible with N/A mods. There is a difference you can feel, but it doesn't have the snap your neck factor like a turbo setup has.

I dont think you should turbo it... If your really not sure, DONT DO IT.

A turbo project requires time, MONEY, patience, MONEY, passion, and MONEY.

If you really dont feel that strongly towards it,.... DONT DO IT.

First off, learn more about your car. You dont need to do much to have a simple setup. How much power do you want? Will you be drag racing? How often will you be 'forcing' the car?

Ask yourself those questions before you embark on this kind of project.

..... also if your going turbo, please get rid of those 18s. Youll thank me later.

BTW... if you only want a kick every now and then, look into nitrous.
